Gonz: steamingpile: I have never heard that

Here. Check Sports Illustrated.

"The closest to a college atmosphere you can get in the NFL"

You... you don't really pay a lot of attention to sports, do you?

There are a lot of teams I'm not up on all their pre game rituals, big deal, few people are. That still doesn't make it a college atmosphere, the games of theirs I have watched on TV never seem that loud big deal. The only team I have ever heard people agreeing was a college type atmosphere was green bay and I hate green bay. Now lets shut up and just watch the games because I really don't care, just relating the college game being more exciting over NFL games.

It's just a douchebag thing that we do. Just as long as you don't refer to Ohio State as Ohio.

Somewhat ironic considering my degree is from "The Ohio University" as well...

There are a few signs that say The Pennsylvania State University too.

I know the_ed_dawg already pointed out our new in-game win probabilities, but we've also set up a twitter account to publish end-of-quarter/half/game odds, as well as upset watches (a 2-to-1 favorite is now >70% likely to lose) and upset warnings (they're now >90% likely to lose).

Check it out at @TFGLiveOdds.

No. It gets stressed by the fans. It's the stressing I'm wondering about.

12349876: PluckYew: Donnchadha: So whose bright idea was the "Touchbacks on kickoffs come out to the 25" rule?

Team doctors?

I'm assuming it's there to provide incentive to not run it out of the endzone, but I wonder if teams especially those with good kickers and coverage might try doing really high kicks that fall short of the endzone now that anything inside the 25 is a win for the kicking team. Even if you only kick the ball to the 10 yard line, if it's high enough that you can get a tackle at the 22 yard line, that's now a win for the kicking team as opposed to the loss that it used to be.

Utah was doing this on Thursday night, Northern Colorado never returned a kickoff past the 15.

I'm sure there are a lot of schools where the official name is "The Townsville University" or "The University of Statesburg", but only Ohio State makes a big deal of it.

My friends at OU always made fun of me for being an Ohio State fan. They asked why I didn't go there and always accused me of not supporting the Bobcats. I told them that I have been an Ohio State fan since I was 5. I have gone against the Buckeyes once.....when they played Ohio in 2010. It would have been twice but I didn't get to see the Ohio State/OU game in 2008.

/The Ohio State/Ohio game should be a yearly thing - Like Florida/Florida State

What the hell is up with the Georgia defense? I know they replaced a lot but they're still playing buffalo.

HaywoodJablonski: You don't have one single-digit score. Why do you keep peddling this formula?

My system is pretty good at picking winners and less good at predicting the score, while the_ed_dawg's system is better at predicting final scores but juuuuuuust a shade behind me in picking winners (~<1% worse over a 10-year range).

If you think the formula sucks, you're welcome to join our public pick'em pool and test us out. Pick about 12 games each week, focused heavily on BCS conference teams.

Then there's a separate pool for TotalFarkers and "special" liters like steamingpile (whenever he's willing to stop making excuses).

It's one of those things that has just grown because it bothers a small segment of opposing fans. Anything to rile up the enemy and all.

As a resident of Columbus, I can't say I've ever heard someone stress the 'THE' in real life in any manner other than to piss off a michigan fan or as a joke to a visiting Bobcat fan.

Oh and TD time for those Bucks! Foot meet pedal. Buckeyes are rolling.

I sold my tickets to all but two games this year (Northwestern and Wisconsin). I'd actually make a trip up early in the season for that.

Well Ohio State fans compose Cleveland Browns fans and Cincinnati Bangles fans. Browns fans are known for being bitter assholes that love their team and (at least the majority that I have met) Most Bangles fans tend to be annoying bandwagon fans that never watched until Carson Palmer started playing.

I'm from Toledo so I'm not a giant asshole but I know that we can be. Toledo was generally the Switzerland of the Ohio State/Michigan rivalry. Both sides could live freely but we'd still sneer at the other side.

Again, going back to the point of trying to sell the college game overseas... That guy with the beat up pick up truck at least usually LIVES in Florida.. Saying you have to have gone to Florida to be a Gators fan is like saying you have to have gone to Atlanta to be a Falcons fan.

I never made excuses, I told you last night but you ignored that, I have never given you excuses I really just don't care but I do recognize more difficult conferences over a long season while other people ignore that fact.

I would pick but I know I will only be about 50% at best, its impossible to pick better unless your hobby is writing a computer program to pick for you. But I like going out in public and not subsisting on a diet of MT dew and Cheetos.
