rcf1105: Congrats to Alabama. Looks like another great team this year. There's a reason these guys survived the summer roster cuts.

Roll Tide

The thread's discussion topics turned out better than I had hoped.

Upside: Mayweather just lost $3,000,000 and Penn State still lost to the Ohio Bobcats.

So there's that.

Which is nice.

Denard's draft stock sure won't!

ba-dum-tssssss.

Seriously, I am scared shiatless of what follows him. There is no QB of the future.

msupf: Dallymo: Arkansas State on the board with a FG.

Which means chip Kelly will increase the game tempo and have his team score 35+ more points before the half in retaliation.

Apparently so.

They could try the Wisconsin approach: keep getting one and done QBs from other schools who have/can graduate before transferring, thus setting up your program for a huge headache when recruits no longer want to commit, and there is suddenly no mercenary quarterback for you to bring in.

Usually cool if you are doing the usual discussion and slip in a cool joke version. I hated when it was getting threadjacking but that was months/months ago

Some coach at some time is going to have to call this bullshiat out after a game. If that coach then threatened to cockpunch Kelly until he bled profusely if he ever ran into him again, I would become a lifelong fan of that coach/his team.

Trust me when I say I understand.

Well, maybe not. There were several lean years when Bama didn't have squat.

I recognize this is a hell of snobby southern thing to say but I'm quite sure the capacity at my high school football stadium was more than UTEP's.

Our stadium was a lot smaller, but our uniforms were far superior.

Wow, I think that was a really bad spot for Utep on that replay. Review likely won't give it to them though.

I agree, but the replays weren't definitive enough to change it.

Should have originally been spotted as a 1st down.

Wow, Oklahoma is just making every mistake possible right now.

I hope they don't get it under control in the second half, we could use an honest to goodness upset in week one this year.

50-3...Oregon is driving and already near field goal range.

Backup quarterback is in for Oregon now. 6:15 left in the 2nd quarter.

Should we whine about that too?

Maybe he could get caught up in a play on the sideline and break his femur or something.

I bet your high school field/stadium wasn't carved out of mountain side and laid out in such a way that you can look down into from the street as you drive by. Saw it in person & I understood the big deal.
It's one of the unique gems of college football.

Why was Oregon even attempting passes during that last series? F*cking assholes, up by god dammed 47 in the second quarter and you keep passing.

Rocky Long said he may go for it on EVERY 4th down.......he's punted every single time tonight.

There sure are a lot of butthurt people in here complaining about sportsmanship before the 1st half of the Oregon game is even over. What else can you do besides put in the backups? Take a knee 3 times and then punt? Tell guys desperate for playing time to go half speed? Screw with the rhythm of a precision offense by calling plays they wouldn't normally call in the same down/yardage situation?

Chip Kelly is just an asshat. It's the only thing that explains going for two after the first td, or going for it on fourth multiple times. Like I said, some coach just needs to cockpunch him so hard and so repeatedly that Kelly bleeds out and dies.

Hell, at this point I'd pay to watch someone go all ranma 1/2 on his inferiority-complex driven ass.

For a start: punt the fricken ball on 4th down when you are forced into one. The last guy to do that repeatedly while leading got his lardass booted out of south bend.

Going for it on 4&1 at midfield with a great offense is the correct call for the situation. It's the first half. The backups were in already (I assume you mean the most recent 4th and short). Should the Ducks just hand the ball over to Arkansas St. every possession?

The 2nd half and especially the 4th quarter are different stories, but you seriously can't be upset that a team went for it on 4th and 1 in the middle of the 2nd quarter with the backups in. Both teams know the rest of the game is just about getting reps.
