Not Subby -but I am an A's fan.

It's always nice to humiliate the Red Sahx...but I'd like to bottle some of those runs for later games.

4 games back on the Rangers!

Life is good here in the Bay Area. Having 2 playoff teams does not suck. The Dodgers and Red Sox, however, do. Oh, and thanks, Sox, for sending us Josh Reddick for a bum reliever.

This has been the worst Red Sox season since the early 90's. They aren't lovable losers as in so many other years I've been following.

This year they're just losers.

I hate management, and the players are boring and obviously don't give a shiat. Stopped watching in June.

This sounds about right. I'll take the Duquette years and all of those retreads and never-weres any day over this crap.

When George Kottaras hits two home runs against you, the housecleaning better not be done yet, because it's quite obvious the players have stopped caring the second that trade was made.

Krustofsky: it's quite obvious the players have stopped caring the second that trade was made.

This. I mean, granted, they lost Papi and Adrian from the middle of their lineup, but that pitching staff is just abysmal. Like back to the days of Duquette bad. I'm not sure we even want them to come home at this point, especially since the NFL will have started by the time they do.

\though given the way Brady "played" in the preseason....yaaaa.

Note to everyone: "Sox" refers to the team in Chicago, who've had the name since 1904. The johnny-come-latelys are the Red Sox.

So basically, don't piss off Ed Walsh.

Well, as a Liverpool fan, I join in your hatred of management. Hopefully FSG will sell us off soon to someone who actually gives a shiat about fielding a competitive team.

I'd love to sit back and enjoy this even more as a Yanks fan, but we almost got sweeped by the Blue Jays and if we keep playing they way we are, we might lose our spot into the postseason as well.

I would probably recognize you at the Park, since there are only about 1000 fans that attend games.

I had Season Tix in Section 114 for 25 years and gave them up because of him, he's a That Bastid.

Boy, I'm so glad that Aaron Cook is a magical super-pitcher capable of maintaining an incredibly low K rate while not allowing any runs. Thanks, deadspin.

In the '90s, you might have seen my face a lot. Before that, I was living in Siskiyou and Humboldt Counties, and only could afford to make a few trips a year. I attended my first Major League game when the A's were still in Kansas City, my dad took me from our home in Denver. After the '90s, I was in Minnesota, and recently Arizona; however I still attend every road game I can.

I agree with you about Lew Wolfe, I thought we were done with crap owners when C.O.F. sold the team to (God bless him) Walter Haas. I wish Steve Jobs had been a baseball fan, we could have been the Oakland Apples (kidding, of course)

Well, that early turnover deep in their own zone really did doom the Sox in this one, credit special teams for pinning Oakland down at the 2 for the safety.

Well, after 86 years of futility and fail, its tough to act like a winner.

Most teams fanbases would still be celebrating 04 and 07.

The Red Sox are already acting like they're downtrodden. Its hilarious.

Yankees offense has been completely anemic this past month while both the Rays and Os surged. I suppose it doesn't help that at $71M, the Yankees' DL would be the 25th highest paid team in the league, but I'm not gonna take the injury excuse, and they've still been playing .500 ball (during this timeframe) despite "sucking".

My favorite part of last night's game is that it was all about honoring the Petaluma Nationals Little League team. The boys got to watch the A's absolutely decimate the Sox in their honor!

I realize that this is probably going to stretch your intellect a bit, but try to follow: Popular teams don't stay popular for 86 years without a world series unless it has some serious all-weather fans. This year, however, most fans hate the players, the coach and the management. And lots of old school fans are simply taking time off until they field a team that we can care about when they win and care about when they lose. Many of us are 100% indifferent regarding these guys.

P.S. the "Red Sox Nation" marketing concept was constructed for the bandwagon fans around 2004.

/first season in almost thirty years that I haven't watched a single game.

THIS. I'm a goddamned Red Sox an. I am not now, was never nor will EVER be a member of some Kapstein schtick that involves buying cheap souvenirs and bumper stickers. The Nation was almost entirely composed of pink hats, frat boys and idiot contractors working for McCourt and Jimmy's Excavating that call up the WEEIner Whiner Line and Sports Hub while they're stuck in traffic on 128.

Fark the nation. Go Sox. (Oh, and fark you Chicago, we both use the nickname. Get over it.)

I'd compare Sox fans' ride from now through the World Series to now to growing up - they grew up and all they could think about was getting laid. They would've done anything to get that sweet, sweet World Series pussy.

But because they'd never had it, they were relatively excited just for some occasional handjobs and getting maybe a little dry humping in, in the hopes it might lead to some sex. But now they've gotten laid and now they know what it feels like, and a handjob f*cking sucks compared to getting laid, so they're not too excited about getting a handie anymore.

At least, that's what I assume it's like as someone who likes the Mariners and Padres - though to analogize what that feels like, I've pretty much just decided that instead of being sexually frustrated, I'm just going to take a vow of celibacy and stimulate my brain in other ways.
