I notice that Stewart fails to address the merits of Clintwood's performance. In the end, you can tell by the liberals screaming that Eastwood hit a home run.

The only other thing that is funny is that Stewart takes over ten minutes to blast Eastwood's 11 minute performance.

I notice that your post doesn't address the merits of Clint's comedy routine, either.

This is my new favorite talking point. "Clint was so good the libs can't stop talking about it".

How much more divorced from reality can you be.

I also loved the bit where they talked to convention-goers who want to run America like a business and wound up downsizing Wyoming. A classic show last night.

The Eastwood segment was so bizarre and disjointed. It was very similar to how my father-in-law with dementia acts when he starts talking politics.

Haven't we all established that perception is the only maningful reality?

Yes the liberal media is in pantomime/shaming mode at the moment.

They don't want anyone to think about what he was saying, so its really important (stay on message folks) that you understand that these were the rants and gibberish of a senile old man.

Meanwhile politicians are flushing billions down the crapper every day.

Yep, David Mamet would be proud.

Not that it would be a bad thing if he had actually done that, but in fact he spent much of the time talking about Romney's speech as well.

If Eastwood had just been rambling, the libs wouldn't care what he said.

They obviously DO care what he said, and they know he's right. That's why they have to try to destroy him now.

Animatronik: Meanwhile politicians are flushing billions down the crapper every day

The funny thing is that the difference between the Ryan and Obama budgets were something like 10%, and neither balanced the budget. Republicans don't care about the budget. They really do not, because adults would cut social programs (WHILE assuring that you don't screw the public with those cuts), AND raise taxes, AND cut military spending. That's the adult approach.

What we got was deep cuts in social programs, and replacing them with the idea that the free market will solve the problems the programs were created to help solve. Tell me, with a straight face, that you honestly believe that insurance companies will be happy to sell private insurance plans to Seniors. Please do that. Since the fact that they wouldn't was the reason why Medicare was created in the first place, so we have plenty of "free market" experience in how that conversation turns out. Please tell me how that it would be somehow different this time.

Animatronik: They don't want anyone to think about what he was saying

Could you explain to me what he was saying?

I'd particularly like an explanation for what he meant when he blamed Obama for getting us into the war in Afghanistan. Because seriously, I had to go back and listen to that part again in case I'd heard it wrong and nope; still completely divorced from reality the second time as well.

So according to Mr Eastwood, Republicans are...

1. Upset about how many people are unemployed (fair cop)
2. Pro-terrorism (We should've shut down Gitmo)
3. Anti-war (We should have never gotten into Afghanistan, and we should end the war now.)
4. Thinking we shouldn't elect attorneys like Romney
5. Thnking we should stop driving gas guzzlers

The "reality" is that Obama, who wasn't watching the Republican Convention, felt compelled to tweet a response to a performance (not quite comedy) given at the Republican Convention.

Gitmo still open? Millions still out of work? Debt higher than ever? No, these aren't "merits" are they. These are Obama's record simply meant to be swept into a closet never to be addressed before the election.

Congress, led by your knights in white Cotten, blocked the closing of Gitmo. You know, elections have consequences, and one of them is that if your party controls the legislature they play an equal role in government. The republicans have, on one hand, decried the absolute tyranny of having a black man in the white house. At the same time they are playing president of Madagascar to ever piece of legislation. Blocking any Democratic initiatives. Packing what initiatives they pass with so much Right wing derp that it can't be reconciled with the Senate. And assuming something sensible hits the senate, using cloture to keep it from ever seeing the light of a floor vote.

We, the people, are not fooled.

And it's funny you mention closets...

I don't think that too many Republicans actually saw Eastwoods performance. "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" was #1 in the ratings for that time slot.

2012-09-01 08:46:44 AM
I can hardly wait for Fox News to be "funny" about the Democratic convention next week! I look forward to such well-placed zingers as:

"Does Barack Obama genuinely hate America? Or does he only appear that way to get campaign donations from foreign America haters?"

"Which of your guns do you think Obama wants to steal the most? Do you think that, when he rounds up white men and puts them in FEMA camps, he will want to use your shotguns, your rifles, or your pistols?"

"Is Michele Obama's ass just too big to fit into that dress?"

"Would a gay couple force their adopted Muslim terrorist children to eat arugula with spicy mustard? For example, do Barack and Michele force their children to eat arugula with spicy mustard?"

"How drunk do you think Obama gets on the beer he spends all his time brewing? Like, do you think he ever tumbles down the stairs and passes out, only to be found by the cleaners in the morning?"

"If Obama wins a second term, will Invisible Romney work to prevent him from completing his plan to destroy America?"

How does the current economy compare to the economy on 1/20/09?

And is Romney going to close Gitmo if he's elected?

Look, I understand it's performance art. It's kind of vaguely funny sometimes. That said, what does this get you? You know we are going to blame the last administration for those things, because they're the last administration's fault. Do you generally interact with people by simply contradicting them? When the people that let you near them discuss how they like eating fruit smoothies do you automatically launch into some kind of anti-fruit smoothie rant there and then? Is it like some kind of overactive radar where your amalygada perceives an opinion as a verbal threat? Assuming you're doing this day after day just to encourage us to vote, you're not going to get any real motion here; the Farkers who vote are going to do it with or without you and the ones that don't, won't. This is a discussion board and we all come here to get a load of the stupid crap that the other political party does. If you want to advocate involvement in the political process, you'd have actual results trolling, or even helping, DailyKos, or actually speaking in public at meetings, maybe writing letters to the editor that are insightful and interesting. Or are you actually in formal service to some outfit that is paid to disrupt and sidetrack the public discussion of issues, exactly as certain CIA documents outline? Or are you just a crank who knows he has a better perspective on things and therefore must deal with all comers with a heart of pure stone? What I'm asking is, how can you troll Fark day after day after day? What kind of sick cyclic graph do you order your life by?

Clint is not a cookie cutter party member. He was expressing what he believes. His point about Afghanistan is that you dont need to score points with the electorate by giving out a timetable. Just do it. Getting out of Iraq was the right thing and we need to just get out of Afghanistan.

And he joked about Obama being an attorney. But wait, liberals say, doesnt senile Clint realize that Romney has a law degree??
Except that Romney got an MBA at the same time and went into business while Obama became a lawyer of sorts. So Clint's comment makes more sense.

Hes 82 farking y.o. I dont care if all of his ideas line up with either partys platform, his ideas are worth listening to because he figures things out for himself, unlike 99% of Farkers

And he nailed Joe Biden - a grin with a body behind it. If Clint rambled for 2 hours, hes better than 60 seconds of "yall in chains" Biden.
