Is he going to apologize for the Tampa prayer-assault that steered the hurricane into their path? When they prayed the hurricane away, couldn't they have specified that they would like it to be steered out to sea?

I'm r-eally happy that we could have a discussion about party affiliation.

As Clint Eastwood would say, "You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.  Some days you are the chef, and other days, the eggs.  Sorry New Orleans.  You are the very best of eggs."

I want to hear about what both parties plan on doing about the build up and stockpiling of weaponized prayer.

I don't want to live in an America where we have a prayer gap with Iran.

Hopefully he says something smart about how govt spending helped save people from disastrous flooding.

he might want to avoid saying that in Plaquemines Parish ;)

"When Hurricane Isaac hit the Plaquemines Parish coast, it carried with it a massive storm surge that overtopped the back levee that separates Braithwaite and other communities from the Breton Sound. At its worst, up to 14 feet of water was trapped between the state- and parish-built back levee and the federal Mississippi River levee."

If Romney had any ability to act natural among common folks this could be an opportunity, to be there days before Obama. But it will just turn out into an episode of the office with a bunch of awkward moments.

Codenamechaz: Was this announced before or after Obama announced his trip to visit the hurricane damaged areas

Before- the invitation came from Jindal. But unless Romney is helping sandbag the place, he'll likely just be in the way.

His visit, though, with so many homes and businesses still without power after Hurricane Isaac ravaged the metropolitan New Orleans area earlier this week, isn't without some political risk. "Since he is not currently a government official, he has no assistance to offer, and all he can do is get in the way (especially with his large entourage/Secret Service and by diverting local law enforcement attention away from recovery)," said Brian Brox, a political scientist at Tulane University. " I understand Jindal's offer and Romney's acceptance (this will allow Romney to get some optics of doing the kind of chief executive things we expect presidents to do), but I would think the best possible outcome of this visit would be that he just doesn't get in the way."

But at least he went there. Obama, OTOH, decided to go campaigning instead (but then changed his mind after being upstaged by Romney). Obama, apparently, is more concerned with campaigning than with the flood victims.

Why does Obama hate Brown People?

Also, how freaking stupid do you have to be to not suspect that Romney will go to the disaster areas as soon as the convention is over? Seriously!

As a resident of Georgia I can assure you that a jet ski is more an indicator of a lack of wealth. I've known people with jet skis that didn't have a permanent address.

The only good news in this case is that the levee was apparently not part of the Army Corps of Engineers project to strengthen levees after Katrina.  The levee in question was a local one, and the other levees reinforced after the 2005 disaster appear to be holding up well.

Do you ever bother with checking facts before you post your drivel?

I don't think so. Hell, a waverunner costs less than a 12' pleasure fishing boat. It is not a plaything for the rich.

fact checking what, exactly, oh brave internet warrior? First off, it was a jokey little snark. The winky face should have given that way. Second off, are state and parish built levees NOT the result of government spending?

I can only speak for myself. I like that picture because it's silly looking. Dude's having a blast sitting biatch on a waverunner. With a Hurricane on there doesn't even need to be a joke attached.

Kind of like the ox45tallboy things. which are awesome. The picture is just a vehicle for another joke.
