"I wish President Obama had succeeded because I want America to succeed. But his promises gave way to disappointment and division. This isn't something we have to accept. Now is the moment when we can do something. With your help we will do something," Romney said in a prime-time speech to a nation grappling with an 8.3 percent unemployment rate and a painfully slow economic recovery.

You know, this line irritates me the most. We're heard three plus years of the Republicans openly bragging how they want Obama to fail at everything.

cubicdissection: It's pretty much unpossible that the Repubs could fark our economy over more than the big O did.

Corporate profits are at record levels.
The stock market has completely recovered.
We went from losing almost a million jobs per month to biatching about only gaining tens of thousands of jobs.

This is summarized as "farking over the economy in a way no one could possibly match." Man you're retarded.

No doubt.

lennavan: The Homer Tax: After Obama wins this year, I'm guessing Christie gets the nod for 2016. I'm hoping he brings some new economic ideas to the table from the right side.

Wouldn't that be nice? He won't though because the Republican voters don't demand it and the Republican donors want their tax cuts. No seriously, that's exactly why there will never be a Republican presidential candidate who proposes anything different.

The party needs an enema. One that rinses out the bigotry, religion-pandering, and maintains strictly on economic issues and personal freedom that doesn't infringe upon personal freedom if they wish to be viable at all in the future. The fringe extremist position while providing a quick boost will only prove self destructive in time with no sustainable future.

keylock71: So "the future" is the economic policies of George Bush and Ronald Reagan which did nothing but help cause the recession and enrich the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the middle and working classes?

Yeah... Pass.

This is honestly the #1 reason why I couldn't even consider voting for Mitt Romney, he's not bringing anything to the table. "The Recovery isn't going fast enough, so we need to go back to the economic policies that (at best) failed to prevent the collapse in the first place."

From an economic perspective he's literally proposing that we do the same thing over again and expect different results. I can't buy that, at all, it doesn't pass the most basic of logical tests.

Hopefully when Chris Christie is nominated in 2016 he'll bring something new to the table. I'm totally open to new ideas WRT the economy. What I'm not open to is George W Bush's economic policies. We tried that for 8 years, it didn't work. It's time to try something new. The Obama policies seem to be working, albeit relatively slowly (which isn't particularly alarming considering the depth of the problem he started with).

This was Romney's biggest failing, IMHO - the complete inability to bring anything new to the table economically.
