Boise always plays their heart out first game of the season. The game sets up their entire run for playing aBCS buster every year, so I expect them to come out with a lot of different formations in an attempt to confuse the blitz and defensive scheme of MSU.

The real question will be how MSU's offense performs against a normally underrated Boise defensive squad.

either way, tailgating starts in a few hours....

In my view this is one of the legitimate criticisms to Boise's BCS runs. A lot of teams with a decent amount of talent can do pretty good the first game of the season because they have been focused on that one game plan for months. The hard part is doing it week after week with a 7 day turn around. I'm not saying Boise isn't good, because they are damn good on most Saturdays but it's different playing quality opponents week in and week out. It creates wear and tear that can really wear you down over the course of a season.

my point is that large conferences with crossover games between division can create really unbalanced schedules. last year tennessee's western division foes were alabama, lsu, arkansas. meanwhile georiga played auburn (who had lost most of their team), miss state (awful), and ole miss (god awful). personally, i loved what the pac-10 had 9 conference games and a complete round robin. 12 was bad enough, 14 is stupid, and 16 is full tard. of course 12, 14, and 16 each produce more money so we know what will happen.

You make some good points. It's not really a solvable problem with these mega conferences and it's gonna lead to some perhaps possibly undeserving conference 'champions' at some point. The playoff problem is a little bit bigger than just setting up a playoff if a conference championship is all it takes to get a seat at the table. Not sure how to handle that. The schedulers don't know how good everyone is going to be.

Yeah, because, you know, like the other team doesn't have the entire off season to prepare for BSU. Totes didn't see them coming. I thought we were playing Duke!

The excuse making by teams that get the shiat kicked out of them by Boise State is more entertaining than the games themselves.

BSU's quarterback is a Redshirt Junior, who has been well groomed as well. I think the two teams are a wash at QB

Running Backs - I don't know, toss up

Receivers - BSU's receivers were all new last year, MSU's are all new this year, I think BSU has a slight edge

Special Teams - I give this to MSU, I have no faith in our kickers

Defense - BSU's DL will be strong, but their secondary kept getting burned last year. I think MSU has the stronger defense

This is one of those games that come down to line play, MSU DLine vs BSU OLine BSU DLine vs MSU OLine

I have no idea who is going to win, but I am totally excited that football is back 5 hours to kickoff

Who should it have been out of the east then? South Carolina was the only other good team in the division and their star running back was injured. I really doubt they would have done any better. After Lattimore was hurt they only averaged 18 points/ game in their remaining SEC schedule.

I have attended two colleges in my life- Kentucky, and UTSA.

Kentucky won the NCAA Championship in basketball, and ended that ridiculous streak against Tennessee in football. UTSA's playing their first season in FBS (and second overall). I am so sports content, I can't even raise more than token hate towards the Vols.

UK's going to suck, UTSA's best-case scenario is to be average in the WAC, and I'm fine with that. If those two teams combine to have a .500 record, it'll be a minor miracle.

Yeah that's gonna suck because most likely UGA will be there again this year bit with an actual shot at winning if the defense performs like its supposed to and they get any offense.

And his old is that article? Rogers isn't there any longer and UT may end up 3rd or 4th again......

That being said if the ACC doesn't win one of the games against also-rans from the SEC this weekend they should be barred from any BCS games.

I'll say it BSU isn't good, they are good for their shiat conference but never act like they would finish above .500 in a real conference. Just like Utah getting smacked last year but everyone wants to ignore that fact.

They haven't screwed up shiat, their coach is a piece of shiat taking millions away from a barely average school.

And great is stretching it, they are decent for their shiat conference, in any other conference they are a .500 team, OK a .600 team in the ACC.

Because msu is not that good and had to replace their QB? Just guessing here, and they are way over ranked, they may be 20-25 but are not above 20 at all. Hell they will probably wind up 3rd in their conference maybe 4th.

Leveon bell is the one shining spot of the msu offense right now.

I'd rather see hill in to give bell a breather, he's at least faster than bell, caper is a decent pass blocker and screen pass back, but his running ability has faded significantly.

Not a gator chant at all. That's the chant that UT fans say during the game.

I'm not a fan of BSU. I think their demands of a home and home are ridiculous. But playing big names on the road is how you become legitimate. Florida State became a powerhouse by doing just that. As a wolferine fan that loves green while they're not playing blue, I gotta say I'm disappointed in MSUs performance tonight. I didn't think it would be a blowout by any means, because I respect BSU, but cmooooooon, they've given up some huge plays, just disappointed.

I'm terrified for tomorrow though, with umich vs bama. Umich is my team, but I dunno if they can get it done, hopefully denard is at the top of his game. Not to say denard runs things, but it seems like when he's off his game, it throws everyone else off...

What do I care though. Tomorrow is game 2 for my kids first season in little league football. Last week they beat the team that creamed them in 2011, and they're playing one of the best teams in his league tomorrow. Fark green, Fark blue, go Berkley steelers vs Madison heights whatstheirnames!

I give them that but they pick teams who are decent but are looking to be down or not as strong as they are in the past years. That happened with Oregon who was thought to be good but unproven and immature, VT was over rated the year they played(and no I give them zero credit for winning the ACC, that's like winning a sandlot league), and I called UGA losing last year coming off a season which almost got their coach fired and no the sec east meant Jack shiat last year.

They can't go undefeated in their own conference so......

If you can't see they are in a cupcake conference then you should quit arguing, all conferences wear you down but that conference is the go to conference for teams to schedule easy wins and C-USA. So instead of losing one of the last few weekends they lose earlier in the year.

Does anyone really give Michigan a chance to win?

Yeah, but sims gets an honorable mention for the offense as well. The wideouts will likely get chewed out for the next week.

Every conference has bullshiat teams in it. Every good team has the other teams trying to snipe talent by offering immediate playing time. Coaches don't have the 5 year deal to mould their programs to their playbooks anymore. And I forgot where I was going with all this...

Exact same score as the South Carolina - Vandy game. South Carolina and Michigan State look like very similar teams. Neither should be in the top 15 IMO.

Meh I just heard it during the game. I don't keep up with him but he was a great college QB.

I have him tagged as "always wrong about football." It hasn't lead me astray yet.

I'm still waiting for him to provide any proof that I'm a GT homer. Or that FunOfficePools was every a pay site. Or that I said Boise would go undefeated in a major conference. Or really support anything he's said here.

Well-played, Michigan State. Get a handle on the turnovers and you'll be a really solid team.

I can't wait until week 3 or 4 when we really get a feel for who's going to be good this year.

Yes, so that means my hatred of the Spartans is tempered a little bit, we get rid of that dumb shiat early.

I bet some dumb ass will now say they deserve to get in if they finish with just one loss!!!!!

Probably. You return five starters out of 22 and you're going to have a rough year. I suspect this will be something closer to a 9-3 year (losses to MSU, BYU, and Southern Miss or maybe one other random team).

Maxwell need to tame the inner Favre. The wideouts need to wake the frick up and realize that they are indeed more than decoys.

Bell and sims just keep on keeping on, and that defense will deliver at least 5 wins just by themselves this year. My hopes for the Spartans: 11 wins pre-bowl game. Realistic: 9, maybe 10 wins if maxwell and the wideouts don't mature by October.

I never said you thought BSU would go undefeated, I said they wouldn't win the big east or ACC and you thought I was crazy. I remember something being a pay for play site, maybe it was only for TF members but I remember two of us you botched about said we aren't paying for shiat to play.

And I never said you were a GT Homer, I just seem to remember you two pulling for hem quite a bit which would make you a fan.

I agree though we wont know who is really decent until at least game 3, all the rankings are shiat until then....

BSU from last year or the year before would've been the clear favorite to win the ACC or the Big East.

It was/is TF-only, but you're such a special snowflake we offered to let you and IAmRight play for free.

He signed up for it this year, BTW. He's actually following the precedent set by Put Up v. Shut Up.

And I never said you were a GT Homer, I just seem to remember you two pulling for hem quite a bit which would make you a fan.

I probably said something along the lines of "they're not as shiatty as you claim they are", but I don't believe I've ever "pull[ed] for them quite a bit."

And I stand by the statement they wouldn't since they couldn't even win their shiatty conference.

I never heard the play for free option but you wouldn't like it since I would put very little thought into it, I follow one team very well and a few others that I hate. The rest of the teams I don't give a shiat about so they could be good but I wont know about it until everyone else is talking about that team.

And GT always sucks, that's the beauty of GT, but I could have sworn you pulled for them on more than one occasion.

Meh, I missed a thread where steamingpileofshiat thinks only BCS conference teams play good football. Wonder if there will be a darkhorse non-BCS team that will go undefeated. BYU perhaps?

/probably not

They do every week, don't act like Boise would ever be mentioned if they played in a decent conference, they would be vandy or uconn, above average every decade or so but shiatty most of the time.

Are you actually using a gator chant? UT fans should beat you to death for that and then see if you still say that after facing real teams.

Never actually been to Neyland, huh.

Never, been by there but that chant is more related to annoying jorts wearing turd fans.

Why is there no farking college thread this morning, is it because soccer fans would cry after it gets more posts in 30 mins than the soccer thread would all day?
