Lando Lincoln: That was good, but the real jaw-dropper of the week so far has been Samantha Bee interviewing GOP attendees on how it's okay for Mitt Romney not to adopt the RNC's official platform.

That bit was pretty good. It was equal parts awesome and 'are these farking people for real."

You really have to support an individual's right to make decisions with someone else's body.

My wife and I watched this last night. When he started singing "All By Myself". I lost it.

That was the best thing I've seen in a long while. Her interview of Norquist was pretty good too. "Yes, the entire federal government is paralyzed because of a document, written by a twelve year old, in 1968."

I saw that, and the Samantha Bee thing. Both top-rate.

Or reason any of the Daily Show corespondents. To be sure, I'm glad they do talk to them, but do any of them watch The Daily Show? Or Colbert, for that matter?

If you're taking some sort of controversial position on ANYTHING and get notified that The Daily Show wants an interview, you'd think they'd look into it and so 'no' or they are so convinced of their invulnerability to be made a fool of.

I want to laugh at that a lot, and the Samantha Bee bit too from the other day, but it's so goddamn terrifying.

I still can't believe how many times the people being interviewed used the words "choice" or "choose". It almost got to the point where I was thinking they must have been in on the joke. There's no way they can possibly be this oblivious.

To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget, whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself - that was the ultimate subtlety; consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved the use of doublethink.

I don't believe those are real. If Republicans did the same thing, Democrats would be livid and point out how effective creative editing is.

It's almost like there's a difference between the freedom of choice on what opinions and thoughts you hold and freedom of choice on whether you kill a fetus or not, but there's not, so the segment was totally not disingenuous.

No, that part's OK. If these people were independent thinkers, they'd understand that NO candidate is going to agree with their particular views 100%. What got me is when they said 'Oh, it's a free country and individual freedom is your most important right, so I support Mitt's right to make his own decisions.', then she said 'Personal liberty is the most important thing?', after they once again confirmed this, she asked 'Except for abortion, right?', and all of them agreed that making your own decisions is as American as you can get, and nobody should get to make these decisions for you, as they are personal decisions Unless it is abortion, then they have every right to intrude upon your "personal" decisions.

They had no idea that they were contradicting themselves that badly.

The DNC should play that video at the convention next week, and have Nimoy narrate it live just before Obama is introduced.
