Did they think people at the convention would forget where we live or something?

2012-08-31 10:16:23 AM
There's no way "Romney" was stated more than "Obama".

2012-08-31 10:27:50 AM
A lot of "Massachusetts" in there. DNWTFRNC, but if they are trying to cite Romney's time as governor here, I assure you he sucked.

I agree. I think word clouds are a "touchie-feelie" way of "analyzing" something that actually accomplishes nothing except lend a patina of thoughtfulness to what is essentially an emotional orgy.

Mitt - America - Romney - President

Spot on. Should imprint well on the simple-minded.

It's like a calculator. Who wants to do the math when you can have the programming sum it up for you?

I didn't watch Romney's speech last night, is it true he didn't mention troops in Afghanistan at all?

@DenisMacShane: Amazing. Romney fails to mention the US soldiers fighting and falling in Afghanistan. And he's a Republican!

Here's a wordcloud of this thread. See what I mean? Worthless as a method of analyzing something.

You know what would be awesome? If you took the largest word, wrote it down, and then placed it's frequency of appearance next to it, as a percentage. Then took the second largest word and similarly placed it right underneath the first word. And then repeated this for all the words, creating some kind of quantitative list. No?

Yup. He mentioned Putin, Israel, and Iran. No mention of Afghanistan, Iraq, or the War on Terror at all.

The GOP spent their convention going from "Obama bad" to "Obama bad and Romney... maybe human?" Complete waste of prime time TV that could have been spent outlining a real plan for the GOP's future, instead they wasted all their time trying to humanize Romney because he's so far behind in all the likeability polls.

Just watch how badly Obama will crush his speech next week.

Jesus, you libs are dumb. How many times do they have to outline their plan before it sinks in? "Tax cuts for the wealthy, increased defense spending, no reproductive rights for women".

I feel the country becoming more prosperous just thinking about it.

Just for that omission alone his speechwriters need to be canned reprogrammed. Reagan wouldn't have made that mistake, nor either Bush.

Which reminds me, this comes from the GOP platform:
"The strategy subordinates our national security interests to environmental, energy and international health issues, and elevates 'climate change' to the level of a 'severe threat' equivalent to foreign aggression. The word 'climate,' in fact, appears in the current President's strategy more often than Al Qaeda, nuclear proliferation, radial Islam, or weapons of mass destruction. The phrase 'global war on terror' does not appear at all...

The 'strategy' referring to the 2010 National Security Strategy, which was drawn from the 2010 Quadrennial Defense Review- which took language from Bush-era work at DOD and DOE.

Anyway... funny that Romney made allusions to climate change in his speech, but no mention of the 'other stuff'.
