That ship has sailed already, subby.

I'd actually consider seeing Avengers if I thought that might help it dethrone Titanic.

I've had my digital preorder in for months already.. just under a month left. I can wait a bit longer, and make my family watch it at home.

awesome have a bunch of cheap tickets that I was dreading to go see Hope springs with the wife and can now use them to watch Avengers. YES! it will mean one night less of sex though.

If you're already not getting any, then the total is still zero.

Saw it three times during initial release twice more thanks to the leak. I'd go see it at least 2 more times in theaters. Easily the best superhero movie of the year. Hell, maybe even best movie.

sink Titanic?

last time they just used a rather large chunk of ice.......

Ugh. I was wondering why it still hadn't come to the dollar theater here. They have probably been refusing to sell the right to discount theaters pending this stunt.

That's odd, it was at my local dollar theater for a month, and just ended its cheap seats run a week ago. Although, now that I check, my local main theater isn't bringing Avengers back so maybe that was part of it (main theater actually owns the cheap seats theater). Oh well, I already had plans to grab the DVD, so no big loss for me.

Yup. I'm not one to call it a major work of art or go on about how the acting was stupendous and the meanings behind everything and all that crap.

I will say this. It was fun. A lot of fun. Seriously, one of the most fun movies I have seen in a very, very long time.

I did see it, and I'm going to sound like a troll when I say the movie was a whole lot of "meh" with a bit of "Widow Does Awesome" at the beginning, a teeny bit of "Tony and Bruce Do Joss Whedon Proud" banter in the middle, and a lot of "Hulk SMASH Generic and Uninteresting Bad Guys. Hulk Save Movie. And Planet. But Mostly Movie." at the end.

Take out maybe 5 minutes of action and 2 minutes of dialogue and the movie falls entirely apart. It goes from:

Lazakesau: Saw it three times during initial release twice more thanks to the leak. I'd go see it at least 2 more times in theaters. Easily the best superhero movie of the year. Hell, maybe even best movie.

Gentlemen we face a new kind of enemy.

The "preemptive 'not a troll' troll / 'Allow me to explain' troll / 'technically on your side' troll" troll. Our leg has been chewed off and we're still not sure if we've fed it! Devious.

Be careful out there.

Saw part of the movie on a flight two weeks ago- now Mrs Servo won't watch it, because the opening Scar-Jo fight scene was too poorly done.

Makes sense. Completely disregard an entire movie based on a fictional story because something unbelievable happens in one scene, where in the rest of the movie people have unrealistic abilities to begin with.

We are out there, and we are legion. And Avengers is still a "meh" movie at best, regardless of how many of us are out there.

/is not on the side of Avengers fans, for the record. Most of them fall under the "This is why we can't have nice things." category.

Norse Legends Reference Pages

MYTH #2: The son of Odin and a member of the Aesir, Thor was the god of thunder and the main enemy of the giants. He would smash their heads with his mighty hammer Mjollnir. To wield this awesome weapon he needed iron gloves and a belt of strength. Mjollnir would return to Thor's hand after being thrown and was symbolic of lightning.

FACT: According to Heindall, who used to watch the Rainbow Bridge for the coming of the Frost Giants: "Well, his hammer was supposed to return to his hand after it was thrown, but that particular feature never really worked properly, and Thor wasted a lot of prime giant-killing time chasing the stupid thing up and down Middle Earth. I've heard some of the old-timers say Thor could have smashed the heads of about 30 or 40 more giants, lifetime, if he only had a hammer with a decent return mechanism. I also asked him once about Mjollnir being symbolic of lightning and he rolled his eyes. 'I had a college girl tell me she did her thesis on how it was supposed to be some kind of penis,' he said. 'Sometimes a hammer is just a frigging hammer.'"
