(The Moscow Times)   In Soviet Russia, media law requires "Itchy and Scratchy" scenes to be edited out of The Simpsons. Hey, that's not funny - what kind of joke is this?   (themoscowtimes.com) divider line 34

FTFA: The head of 2x2 television, Lev Makarov, said the network would "retouch" some episodes of "The Simpsons" to meet the requirements of a new law regulating children's programming.

Simpsons is 'childrens programming'? I think I see where your problem is, Russia.

"Programs that contain scenes that fall under the new legislation will be retouched with a bit of irony," Makarov said in a statement e-mailed to The Moscow Times.

Oh, well as long as they are retouched with a bit if irony. Wait, what?

How do you make Itchy and Scratchy ironic?

/Also I hate the word 'irony' since high school where I had to write a paper about all the ironic things that happened in 'Emma'.

I hope they don't edit out the episode where the mouse kills the cat.

Homer really likes that one.

Meyers: I did a little research and I discovered a startling thing...
There was violence in the past, long before cartoons were invented.

Kent: I see. Fascinating.

Meyers: Yeah, and know something, Karl? The Crusades, for instance.
Tremendous violence, many people killed, the darned thing went
on for thirty years.

Kent: And this was before cartoons were invented?

Meyers: That's right, Kent.

Not that I agree that violence in the media should be banned, but the left is always using the Crusades as a counterargument. They seem to be especially butthurt about something that happened a millennium ago. Not unlike Muslims. Hmmm...
