Gee - if we only had a POTUS that would have stopped this. You would have thought that he would have learned from Carter that economic sanctions against them don't work.

Nuclear fuel? Oh noes. Or do they mean weapons-grade fissile Uranium. Can they exceed 20%?

Well Republicans are pretty much literally destroying this country and would like to turn us into White Christian Iran.
Iran is meanwhile making fuel.
Obviously we should invade Iran to show them how inferior their god is, what the fark is Obambilamadramakenyanmama doing?

I'm half Iranian, so I'm really getting a kick out of this reply.

My having a background in Persian/Farsi language and Middle Eastern Studies and looking 100% Iranian doesn't make me feel better about a draft!

You can't stop Iran from getting nukes. Not without another round of "regime change in the ME," that is. So just take a deep breath and accept that Iran is about to join the nuclear club. India and Pakistan haven't nuked each other. Neither will Iran and Israel.

Romney hasn't spoken about his foreign policy positions so far, even though he's surrounded himself by neocon prowar people.

I'm hoping Obama will call him out on this issue in the debates.

It's very successful and popular among war profiteers.

If they really were after a bomb, uranium enrichment isn't really a necessary step anyway. Two of the US's first three A-bombs involved no uranium enrichment step. Nor did the USSR's, UK's or France's first nukes (China's first was an enriched Uranium device, as was Hiroshima). You can get weapons-grade plutonium without a single gas centrifuge. Just build a graphite (or heavy water) reactor and run it on natural uranium. Old school.

Heh. A child's dreams of war and glory. I am beginning to think that what passes for "conservatism" these days is little more than emotional immaturity expressed as a political philosophy.
Selfishness, belligerence, range-of-the-moment thinking - all the hallmarks of a child's mind.

Um, Bush hasn't been president for a while now. FYI. Although, ANOTHER guy whose only qualification to be President is that his daddy was a rich politician is running, and he has the exact same team of advisors as Bush. Surely you agree that the right to establish hereditary political dynasties are what we revolted against England for.

When have Republicans ever advocated policies that would apply to themselves?

They want others to serve in wars, or work hard, or pay taxes, or not receive any government assistance. It doesn't apply to themselves.

So they can make nuclear fuel. That's a far way from making a nuclear weapon.

Well, they understand that there are Royals and Commoners. Neither Royals nor Commoners believe that Royals should be subject to the rules that apply to Commoners.

I like how they think that Iran having nuke capabilities is suppose to somehow be more frightening than Pakistan having already had it for more than 10 years. Never mind that countries like Iran want to achieve such a thing because we have idiots that keep shouting about invading them and they want more negotiation leverage.

If they used them? Well I guess I'd eat my hat but I don't see that coming. And if they nuked Israel? Unfortunate, but I don't believe you can trick god into ending the world by artificially creating the predictions of Revelations because I hate humanity so much I wish for the world to burn so the liberals and slut-whores finally get their comeuppance. So yeah, I'd be able to go back to sleep that night.

True, but the simple fact is they have refined their uranium far beyond the level required for power reactors, so it's obvious they intend to go all the way. Just because route B exists, doesn't mean they aren't using A.

Obama pulled the trigger on Bin Laden, so I'm pretty confident he'll do the same with Iran. Read up, folks--they've been working extra hard on the 'bunker buster' bomb for just this purpose.

That would be far preferable to our getting involved. Let Israel take care of itself. Based on their track record, they are capable of defending themselves. They don't need us - and have made it pretty clear that they don't want us meddling in their business, unless it's to give them money. Screw that.
Time for America to disengage in the middle east.

Obama has said quite directly that he cannot tolerate a nuclear armed Iran and that military action isn't off the table so I don't know what the hell you're talking about.

And if there is no local insurgency threat, make one by US-funded and -advised mass killings of locals, with Honduras and Guatemala being the latest examples.

Someone needs to give Iran a good talking to. I mean really, sit down, find out how they feel, what they're mad about, what we can do to make them less angry. Just, try to understand them, ya know? Give peace a chance, let's really get to know them and their feelings, then maybe we can just be their friend!
