Sake and Pierogi sharing brother time before Caturday.

Threadjack alert.

This will be it for the BBBB family this weekend. Got final notification on Tuesday that the house we've been trying to get for a while is now officially ours, and we will be moving starting tomorrow. Wife doesn't know anything about it, and won't know until we get her home. She's doing fine so far. Still having trouble getting herself into a sitting position, but spending a lot more time in therapy and in the wheelchair. Scans are all looking good, and we're still looking at another surgery for the spurs they're seeing in the C-section of the spine, but still a couple of more weeks to go until that happens. She's been with the mental therapist a lot this week about the nightmares and problems with the heart attacks. It seems to be working, but it will also take a while to work through everything else she's dealing with right now. Kids have already mapped out the house and where everything will go, and my brother and a lot of neighbors will be here tomorrow to help out. Told the wife that since the kids start school on Tuesday, I'm taking them to the beach and then to a movie, which she's fine with. I'll be there in the morning, and that will give me an excuse to take the rest of the day to deal with moving. The SIL will be staying at the hospital with her, so she won't be completely alone. Mom should get here Saturday with all of her stuff, and at least now we'll have a yard for the dog to use. So big and busy weekend coming, and the only worry I have is being completely sore from moving and then having her notice. Have a great Caturday folks, and I will catch everyone up next week after we've moved in and I get internet again.

Wow. Just... wow. You've been dealing with so much, and to add moving on top of everything? You and your wife and your entire family are heroes in the best sense of the word! I know it's gonna be a long weekend for all of you, but it sounds as if this has come at a good time (I am assuming bigger space, so it'll be easier with your mom and the dog?). Best wishes in the move - I am happy the kids are excited and able to help plan everything out. Thank you for keeping us updated - I am just one of many cheering on the BBBB clan with all my heart!

Thanks Akimbotoo. Not too sure I'm being smart about it, but with everyone here, might as well just get it over with, and also get the kids in their new schools before the year starts. It is a two story house, but the master bedroom is on the first floor, and she said from the beginning that if she did end up in a wheelchair, she wanted the house regardless. The kids will also have a place to hide when they tick off their mom, so it should work out for everyone. Have to go out tomorrow morning and buy a new fridge, but other than that, it will give me time to get everything situated and organized for when she finally gets home.

BBBB that is most awesome news!

Happy Birthday to Abby, who has grown into a most beautiful young lady!

Bittersweet Caturday for me. My son's cat, Daisy, who has been staying with me since March, is finally going to live with him at Ohio State. A friend of his had adopted her as a kitten, then when she wasn't "cute" anymore and scratched the furniture, decided Daisy could live outside, where she promptly got pregnant.

I ended up taking her to vet to have her pregnancy terminated, spayed, and vaccinated. My son was going to take her, but he got an internship which came with an apartment with no pets allowed. So with us she has stayed. Now that he is back in school, she's off to live with him. Going to miss her, she's a real people cat, and loves me to pieces. But he is going to have so much fun with her, and she will be much happier as an only cat (she only really gets along with one of my four).

Actually, with everything else going on it might make the move a bit easier because it gives you and the kids something wonderful to surprise your wife with when she does come home. Lots of hugs all around and we will be looking forward to your updates when the internet gets installed in the new home. (((((big happy hugs)))))))

Believe me, I know that, but the kids don't. Will be kind of comical when they try it though. I, however, won't be in the house when it does. I'll be out in the shed in the back yard covering my ears and cowering in the corner.

Happy Birthday to Abby :)

Hooray for the BBBB clan with the wife healing and the big move. We're spending our weekend moving stuff... but in a slightly different way. Had left a LOT of stuff in WI when we moved out here and the guy found room on the trailer to bring it all out finally. So the last 2 days have been spent trying to get the garage cleared out enough to accommodate all the stuffs he's bringing home. He arrives sometime tomorrow. I'll be glad to finally have access to all my stuffs!!!

Welcome to Sherlock and xsive!! Enjoy the insanity :)

Still waiting to hear the results of my blood test... not feeling very patient. He said 1-2 weeks, and tomorrow is the last day of the 2 business weeks since the blood was drawn. Cleaning out the garage hasn't at all helped with the pain, but I've had fun organizing (yes, there IS something wrong with me! Thanks for noticing!!) Now to relax a bit and wait for the guy to call.

See... even Lars thinks there's something wrong with me :)

Hey Caturday People, just the ones I need to ask a question of. So, myself and my cat have been kind of crashing at my Dad and Step-Moms house while I get back on my feet. I'm only about two to three weeks from seriously getting an apartment, however, my Dad died on Tuesday and my Step-mom was never the fondest of having a cat. Now this is obviously incredibly awkward because now I'm basically free loading in a ladies house whom I really didn't know, isn't my biological mother and never really liked my cat. As I said, I'm only a few weeks from moving out of here and obviously it's become top priority - my question to you cat people is - - I thought about offering to ask some cat lady or dude from our Church to host my cat for the few weeks I'm still here so that at least he's out of the house. The problem is, I feel kind of like I'm abandoning him, but really, he's a cat and it's only temporary - do you think it's an okay idea for me to offer this? He's an older cat that I rescued and he's a very loving cat, but I don't want to traumatize him by dumping him on strangers even if they *are* cat loving strangers.

I just don't know...

I am so sorry about your dad's passing. This can be such a difficult time for everyone. I think I would ask your step-mom what she would prefer.

CanisNoir,
Is the step mom being stinky about it? she is aware it is only a few more weeks? Not long... otherwise, in my humble opinion, if someone from church knows the situation and wishes to board the sweet fluffykin for a bit... it is not abandonment, not at all! It is thinking of his best interest. Good on you!

I have a dilemma I need suggestiond for. I recently upgraded the home for Yuki the Betta (found a great 2 gallon brandy snifter for under $10). The cats have decided that it is their new drinking bowl. Here is the dilemma: will the cat spit be harmful to the fish? I would consider covering it with something but I am afraid the cats might make an extra effort to get to the water and dump it over, Mika especially since she is constantly pushing her regular water bowl around. I don't want to compromise Yuki's health, but I also don't want 2 gallons of water dumped all over my coffeetable and carpeting.
