It's not a slide show at the actual source, the link is right beside the one for the slide show..

OTOH, I'd probably get a visit from HR if it had the IE icon prolapsing from a certain .cx image...

I use a combination of Firefox/Opera/IE, and on occasion a bit of Chrome. I do so because I understand that no browser is perfect, and some are better suited for specific tasks than others. Those who completely remove IE tend to be following the advice of a misinformed individual.

There are still websites whose functionality depends on IE, it's important to keep on your desktop for that reason alone.

2012-08-30 04:20:46 PM
I use 3 of them regularly (just haven't spent much time in Chrome, dunno why) because I develop on them; honestly I don't think there's all that much difference anymore.

Sure, back in the Aughts or late 90's or some whenever in the ancient history of Microsoft vs. The World that IE really did suck compared to the competition at the time, but now?

They're all pretty much the same now.

What's the point? All that crap is available from my start menu and quicklaunch bar, and I don't have to clutter my desktop space with it.

Microsoft can't escape what it used to be for some reason. IE used to suck a huge bowl of donkey dicks and nobody seems to be able to get past that and judge the browser on the merits of its latest version.

I'll never understand the mentality behind determining a person's worth based on which monolithic tech company's products they buy.

Because a majority of corporations aren't running the latest version, they are still running IE7 or 8.

As a software developer, let me go ahead and say...IE you can go fark yourself.

As an end user though, let me go ahead and say IE...you can go fark yourself.

/j/k IE9 isn't horrible to use, still prefer Chrome or FF. And at least it adheres to it's web standards as opposed to MS web standards.

Not impressed with standalone Firefox but the add-ons have been handy. However, images on Fark and a particular game forum will frequently not load in FF.

Something went "snap" in IE8 on my home desktop, won't play flash videos for some reason, just shows an icon. Reinstalling didn't help.

Haven't spent much time in Chrome.

Sticking with IE8 for typical use.

After the late 80s through the early 2000s, I can't bring myself to consider a car made by the Big Three US manufacturers, no matter how much they may have improved their products.

/Particularly since "American" cars are made in Mexico now.

Yes IE 6 was horrific but there was a point I used it exclusively like so many out there. As I recall I switched to Opera 6.03 and Phoenix and never looked back. I evaluate IE on its relatively current builds and it still fails horribly, "Less filling, tastes bad" to paraphrase that line from that alcohol commercial.
I have no use for pointless browser flamer wars personally; people will use what they prefer and idiots or naive people out there will fall for whatever scams or dangerous links out there no matter what browser they use. Personally I never touch IE on my windows installations on either the desktop or laptop and any website that makes me open it just to view it "properly" makes me question if I actually need to visit it in the first place.
The complete lack of IE, active X, and all of that is yet another reason I prefer my Linux installation on the laptop for actual work. These days my main choices on both the Windows and Linux installations are still the latest Opera along with Firefox as a backup/alternative. I always visit sites that might be a bit suspicious in FF with the essential noscript disabling javascript, flash, etc, and FIREFTP is my FTP client of choice.
