ah, it's been awhile since we've had a good olive garden thread.

You're not an essay winner; you're family.

For shame subby, implying that Olive Garden isn't fine Italian dining.

2012-08-30 12:31:54 PM
Olive Garden is the Five Guys of Applebees.

"Noelle is actually homeschooled and instead of doing boring writing assignments, we looked for contests instead," she said. "She's really into writing."

As long as you don't go in there expecting anything close to authentic Italian, Olive Garden is perfectly fine.

Kind of like as long as you don't expect to find real pizza in Chicago, their "pizza casseroles" can be fairly tasty. I'm just not into "pizza" which is best eaten with a spoon. It's just a matter of personal preference, I suppose.

I hated Olive Garden way before you guys hated Olive Garden. I'm ironically enjoying Olive Garden now while you squares are just starting to hate PF Chang's. By the time you really start to *get* the Olive Garden, I'll have moved on to Chili's.

Later, losers.

Sometimes you just want to drink a glass of olive oil and eat bread. Thus we have Olive Garden.

Never eaten at one because the two times I was going to go you couldn't get in they were too busy. Someone seems to like the place but no one is admitting to it.

And while we're at it, there's this little mom & pop place called "Sbarro" in Times Square has the best, most authentic NY style pizza in the world.

Agreed.

It's not necessarily bad per se, it's just not pizza.

All-you-can-eat Soup, Salad, and breadsticks for what, like $7.00?

Can't go wrong with that in this economy. That's exactly why the wife and I go there for our anniversary, birthdays, and pretty much any special occasion in-between. And my wife was born in Napoli.

/LOVE Zoupa Toscana, though my mother makes it better.

I only eat Italian food when I am visiting the Tuscany region of Italy. Everything else just tastes like dog food.

A long time ago you could get the soup and breadsticks for $2.40. Did many lunches at the old OG then.

My mom LOVES the olive garden. What always cracks me up about the place is their chairs are about twice as wide as normal chairs, and on farking wheels. I enjoy the honesty they have in embracing their typical customer.

We drove way out to the suburbs (people actually live out there) the other night to go to Applebee's and I wore this hat.

First, the Xtreme Fajitas were eXtreme. I especially liked the Pizza Shooters and Southwestern/TexMex Fusion Egg Rolls. I almost ordered the Taco Shrimp Club Tower, but I had to get the Mamma Mia Beef and Tomato Pie. It was a "hilarious" meal.

It was awesome and all of the people who eat there were not at all square.

A food snob headline that's actually funny. Wonders never cease.

I'd take that gift certificate in a heartbeat.

And you can't talk about food snobbery and Chicago with bringing up ketchup on hot dogs. Has that happened yet? I haven't scrolled down that far...

I'm shocked and amazed it hasn't!
