And Cory Booker wasn't there to handle the situation personally?

He's slacking.

the intruder, described as emotionally disturbed, was spotted by a longshoreman going over the fence.

Why was the longshoreman going over the fence?

Aarg! Had we been at sea, terrible things would have befallen him. But we're docked and the crew's rampant homosexual tendencies are at bay. Somewhat.

Despite the man's unorthodox entrance, the worker apparently assumed the intruder was a colleague.

You get this ALL THE TIME in our hyperaware, panic-stricken society: People live in abject fear of various terrorists and thugs who want to kill them, rape their wives and eat their babies...and yet they will see a total stranger wandering around a place he has no right to be, and go "Oh, must be some dummy who forgot his ID badge!" and go on about their business. And it's nothing to do with embarrassment or fear of being wrong or whatever--it DOES NOT OCCUR to people that odd situation = possible danger. I guess because people also think that danger will never happen to them or won't happen here or won't happen now.

People don't have their priorities straight sometimes.

If you value your memories, DON'T watch the Live Action version the Japanese produced a few years ago.

Massive ripoff from both Battlestar Galactica's reboot AND Star Trek. Lots of similar visuals.

From the page:

A possibly NSFW pic

"Paula LaBaredas react to a wardrobe malfunction while taking a swim at her hotel's pool in Los Angeles"

Really? "La Bared Ass"? Methinks the writer just made up a name to go with the pic.

Seems to me that the dock worker's "I'm not sensing any danger from that guy" radar was working perfectly fine in this case.

And a lot of people got the same signal from Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy and most of the 9/11 terrorists, too.

Not sure what you're trying to say here. The dock worker's intuition told him that the guy was not dangerous and it turned out that his intuition was right and the guy was not a threat. Your post reads as though you're criticizing him for not mistaking a non-threatening person for a dangerous one.

Oh, no no.

I was just commenting on the wild disparity between the OMG TEH TERRORISTS ARE OUT TO KILL US ALL!! mindset and the "meh, I've never seen this guy before and he shouldn't be where he is, but nevermind, back to work!" mindset. It's thinking that our intuition will somehow always be right and we'll somehow "know" if someone is dangerous that gets people into trouble. I mean, suppose the worker thought this guy was not-dangerous...and instead the story we read was about how a suicide bomber sank a freighter after walking past 10 dockworkers and climbing right into the boat. Then everyone would be saying how stupid the dockworker was for not stopping some guy who blah blah blah. And yet in both cases it would have been the same worker deciding the same guy exhibiting the same behavior was not dangerous.

It's not a criticism of this guy, merely a comment on the weird dichotomy in human nature. Let's all be scared! unless our intuition says not to be.
