Heh, shaft. I have nothing to contribute to this.
Except, remember in that really bad book by Richard Laymon they found a used condom wrapper down the back of the womans second hand sofa, and it made her really embarassed and upitty for the rest of the book? And she didnt die horribly either? Uppity cow. If someone found a condom wrapper down the back of my sofa I wouldnt be getting embarassed about it I'd be like "wtf you looking down the back of my sofa anyway?"

There's things coming out of the well... you can't see them directly - you can only see their reflection in a mirror, and you immediately forget them the moment you turn away. Fortunately, while you're looking at them, they can't move. Look there. Exactly where you don't want to look. Where you never want to look. The corner of your eye. Look behind you.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I owned all three of those books, back in the day ("the day" being the mid-1980s). Of course, my mom thought they were satanic and evil.

I still have those books. In fact one of our GMs is going to breakout a 1st edition dungeon crawl session with those books. I'm going to have to go refresh my memory on those rules, and break out all the tables needed to play.
