Oh wait, I forgot SEC refs don't give a sh*t about rules when the higher-ranked team needs help.

PluckYew: seventypercent: IAmRight: Hey, are anyone else's players having to come off the field and sit out a play when they lose their helmet on a play? I swear this is only occurring in Idaho.

It just happened in S. Carolina - Vandy.

The announcers read the rule, but the SC receiver didn't come out. Guess he was supp posed to be evaluated for a concussion.

Oh, he didn't come out? I must have just heard them discussing the rule and assumed that he did. The Internet has ruined my attention sp

Great how Spurrier's cool with crippling his QB for a possible win over Vandy.

2012-08-30 09:58:29 PM
lol @ Idaho homer announcers: "that shouldn't be pass interference, the receiver still had a chance at the ball"...um, when the safety comes over and hits the WR before the ball gets there, that's going to be PI every time. Holy sh*t, it wasn't even close.

2012-08-30 10:00:41 PM
Ah, that's real sensible from the NCAA: I guess you don't go off for a play if the helmet is knocked off via a penalty. Because you can't get concussions from an illegitimate play. Akin working for the NCAA?

QFT however, the Pac-12 refs screw up calls that screw the higher ranked team.

TOUCHDOWN EAGLES! KAWWWWWW!

10-3, EWU up on Idaho.

Okay, time for Seahawks and EWU on computer, almost WSU on TV time. Aw yeah.

Indeed. It's like they enjoy f*cking the conference out of money. F*cking retards.

Was the ball in the air when he hit him? In college you can hit the receiver all you want as long as the ball isn't in the air. Also in college and the NFL if both players are looking at the ball and going for it, they have discretion as whether or not to call interference if there is contact.

PI no call protecting SC

Yeah, it was almost to the WR. DB just got there early. Obvious call, correct call, ridiculous sputtering by homer announcers about how they shouldn't call it because the guy still kind of had a shot at catching the ball off-balance.

2012-08-30 10:14:49 PM

IAmRight: Whoa, if a helmet comes off, the player has to come out for a play? That's a really dumb rule.

it's not a dumb rule. a helmet that is fitted properly and secured correctly rarely will come off during the course of play. however, if you watch players during close-ups you'll notice that many choose not to secure all of the chinstrap snaps and many players prefer looser helmets that are easier to slide on and off. both of those behaviors lessen whatever protection a helmet gives. if football leagues are going to pretend to be serious about head injuries getting players to wear proper fitting and correctly secured helmets is a must. hopefully having to come out because they failed to secure their helmet and it got knocked off will be enough encouragement for players to buckle all of the snaps and wear correct size headgear.

I'd think people would be pulling facemasks at the bottom of piles to get helmets off. I know the reason for it, but every time you make a rule for something, you have to consider how people are going to adapt to that. It actually gives you more of an incentive to try to pop someone near the head, too.

i thought the fact that no one investigated craig james for killing five hookers while at smu was the biggest controversy in football.

Well, in his defense, the yearly limit on strangled hookers at that time was six, so if you're looking to blame somebody, fingers should really be pointed at the NCAA. However, they did learn their lesson, since they've gradually reduced the limit over the years to where it's at now (which I believe is two hookers).

Hats to see the Bandy game end like that. A blown pass interference call and a missed holding call against SC could have changed the outcome. I hope the refs get reprimanded for that.

On a different note did anyone hear Lou Holt say Penn St. didn't violate any NCA rules and shouldn't have been punished? I guess knowingly let a pedophile use the team showers to rape children and allow him to get tickets to entice the children isn't a big deal

I was at the game. That's the first time I've seen Vandy's stadium full. I also saw a PI no call clear across the field without my glasses.

Oh well. Let's get Northwestern next week.

Marquess Wilson makes a great play in the end zone, Pac-12 refs Pac-12 ref it, call a completely nonexistent hold to nullify it. F*ck Pac-12 refs. Stop consistently f*cking your own conference, assholes.

/more importantly, like I said, EWU is f*cking Idaho's world up despite a ton of penalties and some dumb mistakes

Nah, too bad the NFL didn't hire the Pac-12 refs away.

/also, the only reason Idaho is even within three scores in this game is because EWU hasn't bothered trying to pass on them in the 4th, with the score 20-3. That's how much they've shut the Idaho "offense" down.
//Idaho might finish fifth in the Big Sky if they dropped down to FCS this year.

It's over. It was on ESPN3. 20-3 final, wasn't that close. Idaho had one big play when EWU blew one coverage, got them into FG position. Idaho posted 10 first downs in 12 drives. That 66-yard reception on the blown coverage was more than 1/3 of their passing production (and another third came on the last couple drives when EWU went into more of a prevent).

OK, let's get this out of the way. Whoever wins the SEC west will be the #1 team in the nation. Alabama, LSU or Arkansas, one of those three.

Whatever team that is will kick the ever loving crap out of the SEC East champ in Atlanta.

Loser of that game goes to Sugar.

Winner goes to Miami.

Now. The question is, what team goes as the #2 or #3 to defeat them? USC is the popular choice. Oregon?

Any Big 10 fans can go ahead and shut down the computer. Since by the way, the schedule works, any team from that conference will have been already eliminated. Good luck in the Rose Bowl against the Pac 12 runner up.

Big 12 won't work either. Since, by the way, the way the schedule works, any team from that conference will have been already eliminated. Good luck in the Orange Bowl against Va. Tech..

I'm going with the winner of the SEC west vs. the whatever team shows up out of the Pac 12 - USC or Nike.

Whomever wins the SEC west, is by far, the best team in college football.
