GodsTumor: Reaganomics worked. At killing the middle class.

At releasing certifiably insane folks back into the population resulting in the tea party you see today.

Man, Jan Brewer sure is an awful little goblin person, isn't she.

2012-08-29 09:16:59 PM

kevinatilusa: So is the actual convention going on at the moment? All CNN is showing is interviews with Paul Ryan's brother and little-kid nephew about what a great guy he is.

PBS is showing all the speeches.

Coco LaFemme: Imperialism: Congrats Republicans. Thanks to this convention, I have made a political contribution for the first time in my life.

Spend it wisely, Barack.

I remember in 2008, hundreds of Farkers (including myself) donated to Obama's campaign just based on Guiliani's speech alone.

I just donated to Obama (again) and even picked up a t shirt.

That Taina seems oh so very exited at being there. Almost as exciting as watching the Cowboys/Dolphins game.

I never made that connection before, but hmm.

Just... hmmm.

We're unable to strip mine the land for money. We are at a competitive disadvantage. Remove those oppressive regulations and let the jobs flow! (With no safety regulations, so we'll kill a bunch of workers. Less health care costs. Bonus!)

God-is-a-Taco: I'd like to see an honest biography of his life that includes this final push for relevance after he sacrificed everything he once valued.

He's a three-act American tragedy.

/Really wish he'd gotten elected in 2000
//Things would have gone very differently
///no third shashie

Egads. Jan Brewer.

2012-08-29 09:20:56 PM
I see Brewer is still trying to shift blame for the housing economy collapse in Arizona to immigrants.

I love how Puerto Ricans pronounce government as "gorbent".

DeltaPunch: coco ebert: Oh man, Melissa Harris-Perry's home was destroyed. Sad.

Daaamn :( That's right she teaches at Tulane, right?

I think so. She's an actual intellectual on a cable news network. A rarity.

MSNBC is, no doubt, covering the convention better than anyone else.

Tim Pawlenty is speaking tonight? They actually found someone whiter and more boring than Romney? Yikes.

2012-08-29 09:22:14 PM
Brewer really isn't doing the Republican party any favors in their "effort" to court latinos

2012-08-29 09:22:40 PM

AverageAmericanGuy: I can't believe the Democrats are waging a War on Coal.

They are killing business with their focus on alternative energy... business.

But even more specifically, a lot of Democrats are opposed to mountaintop removal mining and the lax regulation of coal mines that means black lung is back as a major health problem among young coal miners. More on that, here.

Damn those Democrats and their support of national health and occupational safety standards, health care, and not utterly destroying the environment. Oh, and unions... can't forget they also side with workers more of the time rather than robber barons all of the time. OMG THEY ARE KILLING JOBS! (As opposed to the mines. Which are just killing people.)

I think I'd be kind of creeped out if this guy was whispering anything into my ear.

TheBeastOfYuccaFlats: Jan Brewer is such a disingenuous twat.

Well at least she's not prowling the convention hall with a rifle trying to shoot the brown people. That's always something.

He should be the guy introducing Romney just to make Romney look less unexciting.

This is a theme present here.

Disingenuity is one of my pet peeves.

It is the hobgoblin of little minds.

Do you have the stream for that? I'm watching from MSNBC homepage, but it doesn't have any of the usual pundits.... I think it's just a direct feed from the floor.

No, but she's probably prowling for something else. Something much, much worse.

C-SPAN all the way.

MSNBC is getting a lot more follow-up interviews with people on the floor. C-SPAN is basically setting down a camera and filming, which is fine, but lacks depth.

It gives me motion sickness

Chris Matthews is the Chris Berman of news coverage. No one actually likes him, but for some reason the network thinks they can't fire him.

I'm watching C-Span. I watched the tail end of the MSNBC coverage last night, but it was frustrating how they had to SCREAM into the camera to drown out the yahoos that gathered behind them.

Will-Mun: Wow... did... did he admit that the Military Budget is bloated? I mean, slightly imply it?

Only the part that pays for pensions and health care, I'd bet.
