A one-day convention could have probably covered everything that needed to be said and done.

I'd hate to think how dragged out this thing would have been if Monday didn't get cancelled.

How's New Orleans doing, btw?

Rob Portman has about as much charisma as a stack of Triskets.

quizzical: Wait, didn't Obama secure a huge trade agreement with India?

Yes he did!

Facts are overrated.

When is Steve going to break out the banjo?

Can't a fella at least get a "king Tut" up in here?

LOL!

'No more years' rhymes with 'Four more years'.

It rhymes!

I see what you did there...and the body has ways to shut that whole thing down.

Every chant that anyone has tried to start has been amusingly terrible. Out of sync, not much participation. Fun stuff.

Taking on Biden? That's a paddlin'

Eric Cantor, one of the folks who will be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes.

2012-08-29 09:09:59 PM
This Portman guy seems like a pretty good speaker. He should probably just do the entire convention himself based on the previous people, worse of which of course Mrs. Romney.

Coco LaFemme: Imperialism: Congrats Republicans. Thanks to this convention, I have made a political contribution for the first time in my life.

Spend it wisely, Barack.

I remember in 2008, hundreds of Farkers (including myself) donated to Obama's campaign just based on Guiliani's speech alone.

Here here. Nothing creeped me out as badly as that particular speech did. Not even in just a political sense. It was just so ugly...

[markyoungtrainingsystems.com image 300x400]

I was getting fairly drunk and realized drunkenly, isn't that exactly what Obama was saying?

Fark it. Let's go Atlas Shrugged and be done with it.

Most of the attendees go to bed before 7pm... the rest get winded easily.

cc_rider: Ugh. When did McCain become such a hideous neo-con? To think this doddering old warmonger could be the president right now. o_O

2010. He got primaried and moved hard to the right to defeat his derpy Tea Party opponent.

/It's just desserts, as he primaried an elderly Barry Goldwater out of his seat.

AverageAmericanGuy: 8% unemployment for 4 years. That's 32% unemployment!

And that's terrible.

No. That's 92% employment. That's like 368% employment over 4 years. This is such a fantastic country!

I maintain that Romney picked Ryan because he recognized a fellow sociopath.

2012-08-29 09:14:43 PM
You know, it finally dawned on me why last night's Ann Romney "I LOVE YOU, WOMEN!!" thing was so weird. Can you imagine one of these guys getting up there and sing-songing out, "I LOVE YOU, MEN!!"

/I mean, verbally, not with their policy outlook which clearly disadvantages women and represents a narrow, shortsighted worldview privileging older, male, white dude interests (here using "interests" to mean self-defined interests, since most of the GOP policy proposals that disadvantage women directly are disadvantageous to men indirectly, and are thus not to anybody's actual advantage.)

So is the actual convention going on at the moment? All CNN is showing is interviews with Paul Ryan's brother and little-kid nephew about what a great guy he is.

It's a sad story. Even as he embraces the darkest aspects of politics and war, I still see a glimmer of humanity inside of him that he's been unable to erase.
I'd like to see an honest biography of his life that includes this final push for relevance after he sacrificed everything he once valued.

Different old white guy, same "cut taxes and deregulate!" rhetoric.
