I choose this headline.

2012-08-29 03:28:06 PM
Christie should have broken out into Al Czervik schtick during the convention and shouted "HEY EVERYBODY, WE'RE ALL GONNA GET LAID" and tossed a wad of fifties into the crowd.

That would have brought the house down!

I people who vote for Romney are generally either not going to understand the significance or will approve.

How incredibly easy is it to imagine Mitt saying something like:

Oh Porterhouse! Look at the wax build up on these shoes! I want that wax stripped off there, then I want them creamed and buffed with a fine chamois, and I want them now. Chop chop!

or Ann saying:

"Mitt! Come in here and loofah my stretch marks."

If you're thinking that, the headline is stuck on the wall, behind your head. Turn around and look up a little.

What I hear you saying there is that the establishment is so in the tank for Mittens that you're surprised corporate media would run this story. Can't you see they're showing you they don't care? They think it all comes down to money and advertising. When push came to shove in the Republican primaries, Mitt deployed his money in an ad blitz and got the Florida landslide. He's going to be the first challenger in a long time with a lot more money than the incumbent and that's what they think will carry the day. Go ahead and report about the flag on the yacht - they're on that boat laughing about it.

Mother Jones has an interesting tidbit on the Flordia-specific political etymology of "cracker":

For the record, the colloquial term "Florida cracker" refers to the colonial English settlers of what is now the Sunshine State, as well as their descendants. The Democratic 41st governor of Florida, "Walkin'" Lawton Chiles (a now-deceased buddy of the Clintons), famously quipped about winning the "cracker vote"-meaning down-home white voters. Chiles also praised Bill Clinton's ability to fluently "speak cracker."

I'm curious why he calls it that.

The Cracker Bay is owned by Gary Morse, developer of the Villages retirement community. Companies controlled by Morse gave nearly $1 million to the pro-Romney Restore Our Future superPAC.

I thought candidates weren't supposed to have anything to do with superPACs?

They're not allowed to coordinate with superPACs... of course, these guys weren't doing that, they were just sitting around and chatting. I'm sure that there was no discussion of anything related to the activities of the superPAC itself.
