So, come up with a better healthcare solution to implement in the state. Obamacare allows for state exemptions. Fix it instead of complaining about it.

2012-08-29 12:41:34 PM
Serious question - is South Carolina not aware of their embarassing place in US history? I mean, honestly, are they not aware of their history as the most traitorous and racists state in the history of the country with a shiat economy and horrible education? I'm honestly not sure if they just dont realize this.

2012-08-29 12:53:56 PM
Wow... she actually said that.

That's damned idiotic.

2012-08-29 12:57:50 PM
You know Nikki, maybe Obamacare would actually improve the health of South Carolinians if you stopped blocking its implementation with every fiber of your being.

And for any trolls that happen to believe that Nikki Haley has the health of her constituents at heart, take note of her history.

As a state representative, she co-sponsered a bill that mandated that girls entering seventh grade get the HPV vaccine.
She voted against an amendment to that bill which would have allowed parents to opt-out.
She then voted against the entire bill because it did not have an option to allow parents to opt-out - the very thing she voted not to include.
After becoming governor, the bill passed the legislature with the opt-out language, and vetoed it because it was a 'healthcare mandate'.

She was for mandatory vaccination before she was against it, and now she is against it even if it doesn't actually exist. Mitt Romney could take flip flopping lessons from her.

Does she know that in South Carolina about 1 out of 3 people under the age of 65 do not have health insurance?

Her delivery and spin is idiotic, but the base message (that I got) makes some sense: some things can't be fixed by throwing more money at it. Maybe that's not what she said, though. However, blaming Obamacare for the health woes of her state is f*cking ridiculous.

That was pretty brilliant subby.

There's that, too. NOBODY is forcing people onto Medicaid. Yet she says so right in TFA.

Jesus.

Agreed. I think there's more to SC's health problems than just a lack of insurance (health education, maybe? I.e., "Put down that Twinkie if you don't want diabeetus" kind of thing). But, if Haley *is* blocking funding, it sure doesn't help matters.

Also, FTFA: This includes investing in primary care and patient-centered medical homes, serving more persons living with disabilities in their homes rather than institutions, focusing on key health problems such as infant mortality, reducing Medicaid administrative costs, encouraging payment reform and holding Medicaid health plans and providers more accountable for performance. If taxpayers are going to foot the bill, they deserve real results.

Sounds good. May just be lip service. How much of this is co-opted from other platforms, I wonder...

Nothing has changed since the Obamacare ruling was handed down a few months ago.

That's right, they expect instantaneous results. We ALL know how "just a few months" is more than enough time to right the economy, get everyone insured, repair the job market, etc... My question is: If this is such an easy fix, why did Bush leave the country far worse off than he found it? You'd think with 8 full years, we'd all be billionaires by this point. Right?

Jesus, and then she actually said what was in the headline, no hyperbole, satire or exaggeration needed. Un-farking-believable.

We simply can't support this. We are not going to jam more South Carolinians into a broken program, a program that stifles innovation; discourages personal responsibility; and encourages fraud, abuse and overuse of services that cost us billions of dollars.

You know what else you can't support? All of those unsubstantiated claims you just made. Teehee.

vernonFL: Does she know that in South Carolina about 1 out of 3 people under the age of 65 do not have health insurance?

Someone should also tell her that these people are also receiving health care in the most expensive fashion possible: either at emergency rooms or government-funded free clinics. And when these folks get treatment, that treatment is subsidized by, you guessed it, the taxpayers!

To have even more fun, someone should also remind Haley that Charleston, one of the few places in South Carolina that is economically healthy, has been run by a Democrat (Joe Riley) since 1975.

Though Bush the Lesser took valiant strides to defeat the socialists, under his reign, the rich still paid some taxes and businesses still had to fill out a few forms and answer softball questions from regulators. These governmental intrusions were an insult to the Job Creators and the Free Market they serve. As such, America was not blessed with their trickle.

Romney the Downsizer has now come to make right what once went wrong and please the Job Creators in ways even Reagan could not have imagined. Their trickle shall flow like a golden river on all of us.

You can't fix a problem just by throwing money at it.

Just like you can't cure cancer by not smoking, eating a proper diet, getting regular checkups, using sunscreen, and exercising regularly.

You don't throw the money at the problem. You throw it at people who already have lots of money and that way it is more likely to bounce off somehow and hit the problem in mysterious ways that the problem had no way of anticipating.

So maybe you choose something more like the Romney/Ryan plan where vouchers are used to buy insurance on the open market (you know where free-market competition will drive down prices) but then what if those two dicks get elected and they repeal ACA then you have old people with pre-existing conditions trying to buy from insurance companies who get to say sorry GTFO. Now how do you cover your elderly population?
