Madonna fan Jen Gililand told Eyewitness News she paid good money to bring her 10-year-old to the show, but she had to leave before it started because of Madonna's tardiness.

Madonna wasn't the only tard-y person in this situation.

I'm pretty sure that's child abuse.

The only artist that ever starts his shows on time is Elton John (seriously).

Why can't these people just take the money they got in their heyday and live a easy life in relative obscurity? Is it that important to be an AW? And isn't a larger blow to their ego to see themselves on TV and magazine covers looking like the village idiot?

Brett Michaels (Poison) showed up on time to the Busch Gardens gig I saw him at (laugh if you want, I was just at the park and didn't know he was going to play but he showed up and rocked the place).

Who the fark pays God knows what to go to a Madonna concert? Is it 1990 already?

Van Morrison. But he also stopped it promptly on time. It was a phoned in performance.

That was only half of the reason she was late. Her stupid tourbus was in the passing lane doing 40. And she left the directional signal on.
/Then she stopped on the way in to yell at a cloud.

I went to an Alicia Keys concert once. Show started at 8:00 but she herself did not appear until 11:30. There WERE opening acts but they were ridiculously lame, including a clown-act of a preacher dressed in white shouting nonsense and breaking into quasi-musical riffs. It was terrible. When she finally showed up, she sang none of her hits, just weirdly assembled medleys that blended her hits together with her new pieces.

I never forgave her for frustration of the night and I'd never go see her again or buy anything of hers. It was weird, it was disrespectul of everyone's time and it just wasn't worth the wait in the end.

Seriously, Broadway shows that involve far more performers and musicians and big crews manage to start on time every night. So can these assholes.

I heard that Lady Gaga made $100 Mil in one year... Some of the most exclusive homes and ranches could be had for less than 25 Mil and you could live it up for a very long time with that kind of cash.

But that's my dream to live next to the slopes or in the middle of nowhere...

I kinda get it though... I'm playing this game called Fame Trader right now on iPhone... You trade celebrity stocks etc.

I am currently #1... But quitting now would feel like.... quitting. I think these people must feel the same way.

I have no idea what you're talking about with the Fame Trader stuff but I do understand not wanting to retire. I never understood hating what you chose to do for a living so much that you spend every moment of your life planning to escape it. That sort of existence must really suck.

I've heard Lauryn Hill pulls this same schtick. Like it's so bad that the contract rider admits she's tardy all the time, to expect her to start late and if the venue has an end-of-show curfew to request an exception or pay the fines for them.

Man, I don't give a fark. Putting on these shows is their job. If they can't even do their jobs right, they have no right to demand the big bucks from people just to watch them perform for a few hours.

This is pretty much the reason I quit going to concerts - got tired of performers showing up late, drunk, or just phoning it in.

Last two concerts I went to that started on time were BB King and Steely Dan. About 10 minutes into the King show, the stage went dark due to some technical problem. The band went backstage but King walked down front and kicked it with the audience until the power came back on.

The last Dan concert I saw, the band was having problems from the start (missing cues, mics not plugged in, lights set incorrectly) so Donald Fagen angrily called "Take five!" and went backstage where he apparently kicked ass. Techs came out and checked everything on stage. After the break, the band came back and played flawlessly for the rest of the show - one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Not asking for anything extra, just to get my money's worth.

My husband got cheap tickets to see GNR in Philly eight or so years ago. Maybe nine years. Whatever.

CKY opened up the show, played a great gig. Mixmaster Mike was next, awesome. People started to get really antsy during his set because it just started getting later and later. He left the stage, and people started with the chanting, the booing, throwing the beer and food. Once the crew started covering up all of the equipment on the stage and the spokesdude came out and announced there would be no GNR that night, the bolted down chairs started flying. We left at that point. Got out in the parking lot in time to see a bunch of police cars, firetrucks, and ambulances pull up.

Yeah, geebus, look at that rift running up from the river. That's farking outstanding. I would walk out on the porch with my morning coffee and see that, and I'd be there all day, just looking.

I went to visit an old friend in Park City, Utah, and almost didn't get back on the plane. Between the nice people, the outdoor lifestyle, and the scenery, it was tough to leave.

And then there was the time that she performed
When nobody called for more
And soon every time she stepped into the light,
They really let her know the score....

But she dreamed of the times when she sang her songs
And everybody cried for more,
When all she had to do was step into the light
For everyone to start to roar.
And all the people cried, you're the one we've waited for.

I went this summer to Sonoma and spent several days up north in the redwoods. Jeebus that was gorgeous. My family is from the Appalachians, so I love me some terrain. REAL mountains (the Rockies) would have my priorities to family, friends, and job split immediately. Can't afford that just yet :)
