AliceBToklasLives: Why doesn't he go the cable route?

Disney owns ABC. Disney owns Marvel Comics. I think you can connect the dots.

I would use this to promote the feature films, the same way professional wresting uses TV to promote pay-per-view events. Introduce characters and plots on a weekly basis, but instead of having the big event/battle in the season finale put it on the big screen. That's a great way to build the fan base for the show and the films simultaneously.

BTW -- As the guy who renamed SHIELD for Mark Gruenwald at Marvel in 1990 -- I'm getting a kick out of some of these replies.

Carth: Sorry, I just checked the dates Nathan Fillion wasn't on Buffy until after Firefly started.

Today I Learned that Buffy was still running when Firefly started.

Joss is known for strong leading ladies.
Cobie Smulders is one strong leading lady, or at least i think she has the potential to be.

Make her and Coulson the main characters with the ocassional cameo from big stars and this could go somewhere. It's been a while since he's had a TV show, he's got a bunch more connections and contacts, and he's got way more resources this time. All he really needs to do is navigate the CBS red tape around HIMYM and this could be real.

It has potential. Until we really learn more that's all i'm holding my hopes to.

Did anyone else see the Coulson short where he kicks ass in a gas station?

AliceBToklasLives: runujhkj: Good god was I worried this show would be on FOX for a while. If it's on ABC, it might run for quite a while.

Why doesn't he go the cable route? Whedon's stuff isn't gonna get big audiences anyway and there are fewer issues with interference, quick cancellation, etc.

/Starz, for example, orders full seasons - no pilots or any of that crap

I still haven't forgiven TNT for what they did to Babylon 5:Crusade.

Crudbucket: MadSkillz: MeinRS6: I predict some serious FAIL unless Whedon tones it down so much that there are no superheroes in the show. The reason Firefly could work on a budget is because no one had superpowers.

Hopefully it won't suck, but I think the whole idea of SHIELD is because of all the awesome superheroes. SO without them, they're a bunch of assholes in suits. Like Men In Black except without the wit.

WIthout Samuel L Jackson or Colbie Smulders it'll be nothing but a b-team of TV rejects on another Whedon project that gets either cancelled or he hands it off to Marti Noxon and she makes it suck.

The cast of How I Met Your Mother is only under contract for one more season, and although CBS is interested in renewing them it seems as if everyone else is eager to move on to new projects. They very well could get Colbie Smulders to helm this new show.

I would watch the hell out of a show featuring Colbie Smulders in tight pants.
