Just what I need, some hipster guy telling me why I need to like something that everyone else is liking.

I don't know why I still check the video tab anymore.

I liked it. Plus, he's half of the Hard & Phirm collaboration, and those guys are hilarious.

No, it's not that he's liking what I don't like, it's that he's telling viewers that they all need to work together to convert me and convince me that they know more about what I should watch than I do. These media evangelicals are almost as bad as christians who pass out tracts and ask me if I have accepted Jesus as my lord and savior. If I wanted to watch the farking show, I know where to do it, I just chose not to. Now leave me the fark alone and keep your pseudo-nerdy shiat to yourself.

That sound you hear is the joke bouncing off your personal satire shield.

That being said, CH is awesomish, but this video is not worthy of the limited real estate here on the vidjo tab.

I'm impressed that all those voluntary actions you took that resulted in you watching this video constitutes something being shoved in your face.

Chris Hardwick will whore himself out to any show that might give him a job.
The dude practically 'slides' off his chair (if you'd pardon me vaginal parlance) after every episode of "The Walking Dead"

I'm sure if you were in his position you would turn down paying gigs out of some sense of moral righteousness.

I don't understand the bandwagon the Singled Out guy has. He should still be taking daily pineapples up the keester for being involved with that.

He's fairly contrite about his Singled Out days. In my opinion, he's done a fine job of taking the nerdy things he loves and making a career out of them.

If it wasn't for his interview with Neil Gaiman I wouldn't have ever watched Doctor Who. I'm really glad that I did and I'm glad Chris' rep and popularity has grown.

I'm a Doctor Who fan and have never seen the appeal of Hardwick.

Ok, I gave in. I was bored this evening and couldn't find anything else on Netflix, so I watched the first 2 episodes from the 2005 season of Doctor Who. I sure hope they get better because I had a hard time watching.

Two things give Hardwick and Singled Out a pass in my book:

1) That show introduced me to early Jenny McCarthy and Carmen Electra.
2) "We've got 50 single guys and 50 single girls. Two of them get dates. The other 98 get to sit down with Alanis Morissette and discuss the meaning of irony."

I like Dr. Who... with reservations. However, lame commercial = greenlight?

Dude! It's "New to Whom!!"

Grrrrrr

A whole lot of "I'm far too cool/it's being shoved down my throat" going on here.

It's very simple: Unless you are quite literally strapped to a chair (a la Clockwork Orange) and forced to watch Doctor Who, then just change the channel. The same goes for clicking the link and watching the video. It's really as simple as that.

But I guess that goes along with people feeling the need to post "who?" in threads about celebrities because it somehow makes them feel superior ("I am above you because I don't pay attention to this sort of thing and I felt the need to let you know that - though if I really was superior, I wouldn't have cared about the subject enough to post anything, but you'll never get me to admit to it because that would be an admission of not being superior to you in every way.")

It's threads like this that make me think Fark's tagline should be "Where our members are superior to the things even they like."

Personally looking forward to new episodes; Doctor Who and SW: The Clone Wars. September will be a good month.

Yes, they get better. If you are able check out s1.ep9 and 10. The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances. If you don't like that two parter, you probably won't like Dr. Who.

PS you are totally allowed to not like something I like. Its ok.

Don't bother with the early stuff, most of which were really crap (there are a few gems, which I'm certain other farkers will point out).

Just start with the Matt Smith episodes, which, with rare exceptions, are consistently good and much better written.

The trick to working out whether you like Doctor Who is to do two things - pick a season and watch at least half of it. You'll figure it out pretty quickly.

And never, ever listen to a Fan opinion about what's good and what isn't.

I hate Chris Hardwick.

I used to hate "that dude that was on after walking dead" but now I know his name... so, I now also hate subby.

Seriously, this guy is about a genuine as a $3 bill. He would get excited and happy about a dog turd getting shoved in his mouth if his studio producer told him to.

I've now seen the first 5 episodes of season 1. I'm having a very hard time sticking with it. I think I'll skip ahead a few seasons.

Now that would be a big mistake because you'd be missing some of the best episodes of the season. Starting with the very next episode, "Dalek".

While the next one after Dalek is not one of the best, it does tie into a as-yet-to-be-revealed seasonal arc, so just keep watching. Seriously, just keep watching.

You're absolutely allowed to hate him and nobody will take that from you. For what it's worth though, he's always been excitable about things that he loves and fans of his podcast are quite aware of it. He and the other Nerdist guys would go on about Doctor Who and the Walking Dead constantly before they ever had any sort of affiliation to The Talking Dead or their show on BBC America. So you're wrong in that regard about him not being genuine. He really does love Doctor Who. However, he's quite over the top about it and you can probably blame that on him being a stand up comic and an attention seeker just like many stand ups willingly admit they are. If he really loved eating dog turds he probably would be excited about promoting that practice. He's an entertainer, but whether you like his brand of entertainment or not is the real crux of the matter. You, obviously, don't like it. Fair enough. Making assumptions about his genuine love for something is silly though.
