Someone parking in the wrong place? Give them a ticket and ask them to move their own car.

Forcing them to take up the wrong place even longer is stupidly counter-productive.

I'm having trouble believing he can cut through a wheel clamp in under a minute using a 3 inch battery powered angle grinder, unless there's weak spot that I don't know about.

When I was in college, I discovered that certain kinds of alcohol beginning with "T" and ending in "equila" transformed me into "Cunnilingus Man", who freed beautiful coeds from the shackles of a lackluster and/or ignorant, self-absorbed partner. I had superhuman lingual endurance and dexterity, coupled with fingers capable of extreme sensitivity and blinding speed.

My only weakness was more Tequila, which would occasionally turn me into Pantsless Wandering Idiot, or worse -- "Hey Are You Still Awake Down There?" Man.

i'm not saying what the guy is doing is wrong, but when you go around with a power tool cutting apart big metal things that don't belong to you... well, you're definitely damaging property. not a lot of room for interpretation there.

There was a guy who put coins in parking meters so people wouldn't get tickets. That guy was a hero. This guy destroys public property. That makes him a villain.

It's not public property. It's private property that's being used in a way that's only tenuously legal to begin with. His issue is that instead of having an official ordinance and enforcement, the city contracts private, for-profit companies for parking enforcement which then, of course, having a free reign monopoly, charge ridiculous fees and resort to unscrupulous tactics- and have ZERO accountability, least of all because of the attitude that "anyone who gets a fine deserved it and is just whining." Local governments also commonly do the same thing with towing and impound.

Oh? I didn't read any of that in TFA. What I'm familiar with is that you get booted the next time you park illegally if you don't pay your parking tickets, which you got for parking illegally. If in fact people are getting booted for legal parking, then that's a different story. Of course, that forces me to ask the question: How does he know the difference?

Only meter maids think that. The courts have decided, repeatedly, that it isn't obstruction.

I got clamped in this city... probably the same damn carpark. Was a sunday, the shop was closed, the carpark near empty. I did not see the tiny signs placed in hard to notice positions. Had to call the number stuck to my window and a van pulls up in under two minutes. Two security/bouncer type blokes get out; one stands in front of me and tells me it costs $127 on the spot to remove the clamp while the other stands behind me "in case I cause trouble". Told them i don't carry that much cash and got the reply "don't worry, mate, we carry an eftpos machine for your convenience". This was not about ensuring bays were free for other vehicles. Fark them so much. Wish our caped hero was available back then.
