Is it still protesting if they're not saying anything the RNC disagrees with?

2012-08-28 12:06:06 PM
Can we nuke them all form orbit? Pretty please?

/with a cherry on top

2012-08-28 12:15:31 PM
What are the protesting for, I thought Fred Phelps was one of the keynote speakers?

2012-08-28 12:18:47 PM
Sour grapes, really. The WBC is just mad that there's a group of people in this country more bats**t insane than they are. :/

2012-08-28 12:29:21 PM
I'm OK with this.

2012-08-28 12:30:34 PM
the only thing they haven't protested yet is their own church.

2012-08-28 12:59:08 PM
I am also ok with this.

2012-08-28 12:59:37 PM

ManateeGag: the only thing they haven't protested yet is their own church.

This is pretty close though...

2012-08-28 12:59:45 PM
Any chance we can get a prayer circle going to cycle Isaac back over Tampa??

2012-08-28 12:59:57 PM
I can smell the cognitive dissonance of Fark from here.

2012-08-28 01:00:03 PM
They should fit right in with all of the hate mongers protesting outside.

2012-08-28 01:00:23 PM

This Is Bold Text: Is it still protesting if they're not saying anything the RNC disagrees with?

Nope, that's called cheerleading.

ManateeGag: the only thing they haven't protested yet is their own church.

I kinda wonder what would happen if they were to ever picket their own church, much the same as how I wonder what would happen to Bloody Mary if she saw herself in a mirror.

2012-08-28 01:01:11 PM
Stand your ground, Republicans.

2012-08-28 01:01:12 PM

BalugaJoe: I am also ok with this.

2012-08-28 01:02:05 PM
God dammit, Mods, this was a two-fer.

2012-08-28 01:02:16 PM
Ignore them. Ignore them. Ignore them. Ignore them. If they do something that makes you feel upset at a visceral level, then instead of ignoring them, just ignore them. The only time you should pay them any attention is if you are forming one of those human walls that obscures people at their protests from having to look at them. Otherwise, ignore them. Also, ignore them.

2012-08-28 01:02:21 PM
Does anyone really care anymore?

Fred Phelps is a Democrat.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

2012-08-28 01:02:48 PM
As far as I know this would be the first time they protest something that could reasonably be argued requires some protesting. It could be the DNC also, this isn't a political statement. So, yeah, I have no problem with this.

2012-08-28 01:03:20 PM
Is it still protesting when they all agree with you?

2012-08-28 01:03:24 PM
Man, the WBC has really been hitting the Random Protest Generator quite a bit recently.

2012-08-28 01:04:04 PM
Hasn't it been thoroughly established that this is the WBC's business model? They're looking to be "oppressed" so that they can sue and collect damages. They could as easily adopt a pro-PETA agenda. They're just real-life trolls looking to get paid.

2012-08-28 01:04:26 PM
I'd love to spend an afternoon down there sitting on a park bench to watch that farking circus.

2012-08-28 01:04:33 PM
WBC protests anywhere where they think they can get pushed around by local authority so that they can sue for infringement of their freedom to assemble and protest.

A good portion of their 'church' are family members, many of which are experienced lawyers practiced at this sort of civil lawsuit.

In short, they are lawsuit chasers who troll local governments in the hopes of getting to sue someone, all of which they do while hiding behind the cover of a 'church group'.

God bless America.

2012-08-28 01:05:02 PM
All they protesting all the gay stuff going on in the men's room?

2012-08-28 01:05:18 PM
God hates flags.

2012-08-28 01:05:22 PM
They pretend to stand for something yet they're only looking out for themselves. They preach inflammatory misinformation and thrive on reaction which gives them self-justification for their stance. Everyone who disagrees with them is wrong, wrong, wrong. There is no reason, they march on because God is on their side. The world would be better off without them.

/and don't get me started about WBC too.

2012-08-28 01:05:25 PM
Republicans protesting Republicans? How does that work?

2012-08-28 01:05:50 PM
These RNC people must not be so bad if the wacky Westboro Baptists are protesting them.

Fred Phelps is a Democrat.

Nicely done.

That.

THIS!

Their focus is shifting! They couldn't get gay folks to bite...soldier's families aren't biting. Maybe they are banking on the full force of the tea party to deliver the 'assault' on Shirley or the Phelp's crotch fruit that can get them into court.

Subby,

What's the next submission?

My mind is blown.

No such thing as bad publicity.

2012-08-28 01:07:34 PM
sounds more like a cheering section for the RNC

2012-08-28 01:07:47 PM
divide by 0?

No, no he is not. Simply calling yourself a "Democrat" doesn't make you one, much like North Korea calling itself a "democratic republic" doesn't make it one.

They're attention whores. Anything to get press notice. Ignore them.

I still think the goal of the WBC is to secretly promote gay rights. They take the barely disquised bigotry of the anti-gay crowd and take it to its logical conclusion. They say Rev Phelps used to be a civil rights lawyer. His group would be the perfect political theatre to slap the phobes with, much like Pastafarians are to theocrats.

2012-08-28 01:10:00 PM
"Hundreds of law enforcement officers from across the state convened Friday at the University of South Florida for one more meeting about First Amendment issues, training and philosophy."

Ok boys, this is how we did it in Chicago 1968 at the Democratic Convention....it went swimmingly, watch this footage and lets do her again! WAHOO!!! Get dat sumbiatch!

While I'm no fan of the Republicans, I'm even less a fan of the WBC. Just wish the media would quit giving them any sort of attention. It only feeds them.

That would make a lot of sense IF they didn't specialize in suing people.

Never attribute anything to altruism that can properly traced back to human greed.

2012-08-28 01:10:17 PM
Their goal is to get money through lawsuits and they know how easy it is for someone to get busted by convention cops.

Article says they'll be protesting the DNC as well.

2012-08-28 01:10:38 PM
God hates Republicans

2012-08-28 01:10:58 PM
Probably a few gay-hating senators feeling vaguely betrayed right now.

Saying he's not a Democrat doesn't make the fact that he is one untrue.

COME ON, ISAAC!
