Okay, here's a partisan, paranoid question: Would the Democrats be forced to cancel convention nights this year? Would they have been forced to cancel their first night in '08? Or could they have proceeded, safe in the knowledge that the media would not tag them as heartless, indifferent, and callous?

Probably not, because people generally don't expect or suspect them to be heartless, indifferent, and callous - unlike Republicans.

As your own magazine states: own it

Come on now, subby. That should be "The mainstream MSM media is to blame for the GOP Party cancelling day one of the Republican RNC convention."

Forced? No. Cancel it out of respect? Yes.

Stop whining.

"We can be thankful for Hurricane Isaac," he said. "If nothing else it kept Joe Biden away."

Rick Santorum's Accu-Weather would have called it a Grade One Jesus Freedom Crying Eagle Cleansing and gone live from the roof of the St. Pete Times Forum -- assuming the check cleared.

Perhaps if so many folks weren't regularly saying sort of heartless, indifferent, and callous things, they might not get tagged as such...

The mainstream MainStreamMedia media is responsible?

Well...in a sense, it's true. The distraction of TS/Hurricane Isaac will detract from coverage from the RNC.

You're going to find that many of the truths the GOP clings to depend greatly on their own point of view.

Remind me, what American city was wiped out by a hurricane under the watch of current Democrats, while cameras documented desperate situations on the ground?

So they blame the media for the abortion of their convention?

2012-08-28 02:02:00 PM
so I guess the GOP will just sit there while the storm passes and point out what they think the Dems would do, just ask questions.

I'm having trouble thinking of an appropriate example for the Democrats that would force them to delay their convention. Maybe a massive oil spill in the Gulf, but the response to that wasn't colossally bungled. Go back to Carter, I guess? If an American embassy were taken hostage, I could see them shutting down everything until that had been taken care of.

2012-08-28 02:11:45 PM
You'd think the Repubs would be strong enough to make their own decisions instead of letting the failstream media tell them what to do.

Perhaps they have come to realize that the more publicity their actual platform gets the worse their odds at getting re-elected is.

SNOPES hate in the comments.....

Oh, dear sweet, Mother of Zeus! The comments section is truly frightening.

I want to quip something clever here, but I am honestly just jaw dropped how these people have been programmed to view honest facts with suspicion and contempt.

That never happened, but thanks for reminding everyone that the right has been brazenly lying through their rotten teeth for many, many years and it's not just a new thing.

2012-08-28 02:39:20 PM
I predict that if the Democrats held their convention during the impact of a hurricane, the Republicans would biatch about Obama being out of touch and uncaring, and the mainstream media would publish every word of it, just as the media has published almost every single complaint, legitimate or ridiculous, of the right for the past 3 1/2 years.

i don't recall that particular accusation however i do remember we the People being upset at how badly he handled the disaster.

Because you needed to be reminded again how stupid a comment that was... that was a stupid comment. No one said that. Difficulty: in your mind, some blogger somewhere did, and that means something.

Leave it to conservative media to frame concern over potential natural disaster victims on our country's soil as political correctness run amok.

Well, if Obama can get the NASA chief to advance his secret Moooslim agenda, certainly Obama can get the NOAA chief to move Isaac to New Orleans so that Obama can save the black people's day and make him a hero again and get 98% of the black vote and Romney gets -2% of the vote.

2012-08-28 03:19:24 PM
The lamestream media wet its collective pants with joy at the hurricane - they can now tie death and destruction to the GOP convention. At least that's what Limbaugh was babbling about today as I checked out the AM dial.

So, Mitt Romney is automatically President, Nobama will be deported to Kenya and the CDC will be privatized and sold to Bain Capital.

Funny, and here i was thinking it was because they didn't want Huckabee to sully their perfectly-planned (ha!) little coronation with nationally-televised talk of one Mr. Akin (and the connections that can and SHOULD be made to the GOP VP candidate). But yeah, sure, blame it on the "lame-stream media" (wink) or the "weather." (wink, wink, wink).
