Can't let those pesky facts get in the way of our campaign.

2012-08-28 10:51:31 AM
these guys are borderline obscene.

the welfare attack is pure racist dog whistle shiat. not only is it completely untrue - romney himself lobbied for the same provisions as governor of mass.

romney is a racist, lying sack of shiat. that's all.

We gutted welfare back in the 90's. There's not much left to get upset about. Maybe the GOP would be happier if we just brought back indentured servitude.

There's no "maybe" about it.

nah, the Romney people can't possibly be that stupid! the headline is probably just and exaggeration.

For years we've been saying that reality has a liberal bias.

It's nice to see a campaign admit that.

No they aren't. 30% of the voters will automatically check his name off, and he's got enough money to convince 10-15% of the voters that Obama did something bad to them, personally.

I worry about that last 5-6%

Maybe? Newt Gingrich ran on a plan of "fire school janitors and replace them with the poor kids."

How are they screwed? Those same reporters aren't entirely stupid; they know about Willard's disdain of the truth already. They can't call him out on that without at least half of their audience tuning out because they're now "liberal journalists."

"Our most effective ad is our welfare ad," a top television advertising strategist for Romney, Ashley O'Connor, said at a forum Tuesday hosted by ABCNews and Yahoo! News. "It's new information."

True, when you pull shat out of your arse it is indeed "new," but it doesn't actually qualify as "information."

If what they spout out reinforces their bases preconceived notions, the fact that it's a lie is irrelevant. And they know that most of the undecideds are too lazy, too involved in non-political things to pay any attention to the fact-checkers.

They call him on it plenty. The difference is that most candidates have some sort of moral or ethical core that could be impacted by being called a liar, or pointed out how something they said was untrue. The Romneybot 2012 has no such weaknesses; it feels no emotion, no greater sense of purpose, no love for it's fellow man. He knows he is lying. It is a calculated gamble to simply ignore reality until they win.

It has got to suck to have to vote for Romney.

2012-08-28 11:44:05 AM
Facts? Who needs facts, when you have narrative?

This is the issue that I have with the willful misconstrueance of subjective reality, and sadly, they live by this willful misdirection of the concept...

Dusk-You-n-Me: It has got to suck to have to vote for Romney.

That's the thing: folks don't have to. They will choose to, and curse their luck, as opposed to voting for better candidates, because team matters more than good men and women in office...

I can't decide if this year's GOP campaign is some elaborate sociological experiment like "The Wave", or... if our nation is crumbling.

flaEsq: They never let the facts get in the way of anything before, why start now?

No kidding.

"For years, the GOP has been burdened with facts stopping us from getting public support for our insane ideas. But what if we simply ignore facts from here on out? What if we just make up a whole bunch of crazy shiat, and say that it's true, and say that the people who say that our lies aren't true are just part of the liberal conspiracy? This is our best game plan, and we're moving forward with it."

The interview this morning with Steve Inskeep and Rich Beeson was hilariously uncomfortable when they touched on this issue.

But, I do agree so-called "fact checkers" have jumped the shark (not sure that's the best term for it), a while ago.

FlashHarry: romney is a racist, lying sack of shiat. that's all.

No. Romney just wants to be President. Everything he does is in service of that. If he lies, it's not because he is a liar (although the act of lying makes him one) it's because he is ambitious and wants to be president. If he acts like a sack of sh*t, it's not because he is a sack of sh*t (although the act of acting like a sack of sh*t does make him one), it's because he is ambitious and wants to be president.

My only question is why. Why in the hell does he want to be President?

Via Infinito: Can't let those pesky facts get in the way of our campaign.

Yes, this was being bandied about last week on some AM radio and some comments. Those "fact checkers" are partisan, derp, derp, derp.

The GOP hasn't figured out that not everyone is under their echo chamber control. That's a great message for the base, but it will do nothing for the swing voter. This isn't 2001, nobody is cowed by 9/11 or any other event. The GOP still thinks they can just bully the electorate into complying with them.

What a load of fail.

2012-08-28 01:15:57 PM
Anything to distract from those tax returns, eh Team Willard? Too bad they'll keep bobbing back up.

Because he wants to be president. He appears to crave power for power's sake; hence why his explanation of what he would do with that power is so... fluid.

Not enough of them have, for my liking. We still have a few months and 3 debates though, to make it happen.

They're not screwed. If the U.S. public cared about honesty, logic, and facts then Willard would of been flat out on his ass months ago.

It's the most illogical and unfair campaign season since the gilded age. Mittens could release a video where if screws a black boy on the hood of his car and he would still get the right-wing nutter vote.
