It looks nice for like an hour, then the snow gets gross and brown and refuses to melt. Then you are left with giant piles of dirty muddy snow that stick around for days or weeks.

It is. I am a Mainer who now lives in Mass so I have lost the correct snow perspective. What once was a nice, earth-covering blanket of warming white goodness is now a "Shut. Down. Everything" level event.
