Plastibell is how they do a circumcision with absolutely no effort or training. I'm not against circumcision, but who in their right mind thinks this is a reasonable way to perform this procedure? The whole thing about how there are more complications from tonsillectomies.. they are done under anesthesia and you have the risk of tearing open a scab and bleeding without really knowing it, not something you can compare. There ARE complications from circumcision that exceed infection. How about bridge adhesions? Who should I report that to because I had to pay for my son to have plastic surgery at age 3 to repair the poor job done by a plastibell. How many adult men have painful erections due to adhesions?

If it's a very simple procedure WHY do you need to use this stupid device?

I'm circumcised and my cock works just fine. And I prefer to suck circumcised ones as well because they're more aesthetically pleasant.

But real circumcision is done with a butcher knife, a cutting board and a sixteen penny nail.

That's how I was told it was done to me - with a plastic circlet. Not that I would know, since I was a farking infant and as such had no proper sentience.

Not saying it's right or wrong. Don't give a damn either way. I'm never having kids, and I'm never grabbing another dude's junk, so I couldn't care less about the practice. However, people make far too large a deal out of this shiat. Do it or don't do it. You aren't a champion of morality or righteousness no matter which you choose.

There are 4 different kinds of female circumcision, not all remove the clitoris, ALL of them are illegal in the US and many first world countries.

BTW, tell that to the boys who have a circumcision accident and have their entire penis cut off.

It happens.

I love the people that are against circs because of extremely rare side effects, but are totally for vaccinations with much higher rates of side effects, some of which are much more severe... Same goes for all the tards that think the kid should have a say in it...

It's actually pretty much painless -- or so I've been told. Though it does sound rather nasty, doesn't it? A similar technique is used to remove hemorrhoids, rectal polyps and warts.

That some boys have their entire penis cut off during a circumcision is nothing but a ridiculous urban myth. It has never happened. All techniques use a shield to protect the penis itself from injury. The wound from a circumcision heals in about three days.

Guys, if you are intact and are considering an adult circumcision, please find a urological surgeon who specializes in the technique in adults. The procedure is similar, but adult males have a lot more foreskin to remove and it isn't as simple a matter as it is for babies. If it isn't done correctly scaring can result. I've seen it done. The men who had it say it isn't bad at all. A little pain (drugs!) and swelling, but it heals very quickly. The penis is a very vascular organ and this speeds the healing process.

None of the clitoris is removed during a female circumcision. The removal of the clitoris is called a clitorectomy. Some women greatly benefit from a circumcision. Some women have too large a clitoral hood and labia minora, which can interfere with stimulation of the clitoris to the point she is incapable of orgasm.

Traditionally, circumcision on newborns was done without any pain relief (the belief being babies did not feel pain), but it is now the norm to use analgesics for all the procedures. However, anesthesia is almost never used.

Can somebody explain WTF they meant by this?

My two cents - parents should choose and either way is fine. I would probably side to circ, but I think my wife is more against it. Since she has a PhD in biology, I'll ask her why and probably agree. Since it does have health benefits, as described by the AAP, it should be covered by insurance.

The insurance thing seems to be the big thing the AAP was going for.

Uhm. Yeah. About that...

The WHO has offered four classifications of FGM. The main three are Type I, removal of the clitoral hood, almost invariably accompanied by removal of the clitoris itself (clitoridectomy); Type II, removal of the clitoris and inner labia; and Type III (infibulation), removal of all or part of the inner and outer labia, and usually the clitoris, and the fusion of the wound, leaving a small hole for the passage of urine and menstrual blood-the fused wound is opened for intercourse and childbirth.[4] Around 85 percent of women who undergo FGM experience Types I and II, and 15 percent Type III, though Type III is the most common procedure in several countries, including Sudan, Somalia, and Djibouti.[5] Several miscellaneous acts are categorized as Type IV. These range from a symbolic pricking or piercing of the clitoris or labia, to cauterization of the clitoris, cutting into the vagina to widen it (gishiri cutting), and introducing corrosive substances to tighten it.[4]

There is the scientific name for it a very specific practice in the U.S., and then there is how is actually practiced around the world.

Ah, the old "extremely rare side effects" angle to defend a dangerous and barbaric practice.

A new study published last week in Thymos: Journal of Boyhood Studies estimates that more than 100 baby boys die from circumcision complications each year, including from anesthesia reaction, stroke, hemorrhage, and infection. Because infant circumcision is elective, all of these deaths are avoidable.

Just deaths, BTW, not including other complications, like the two boys I personally know who have had several "corrective" surgeries due to circ complications. I could whip out (Get it?!) much more on the subject, including documentation of boys who were raised as girls due to having their dicks cut the fark off, but all the evidence will not sway those of you who have a vested interest in circumcision, either to justify it because they did it to their own kid or they don't want to admit their penis is not 100% perfect.

Oh, and vaccinations have PROVEN, rock solid benefits, not only to the individual but to the herd. Circumcision? It's a cure still searching for the disease. The vast majority of the worlds men are not circumcised, and do just fine with their funny looking (to an American) penises. Every single shred of evidence of its benefits comes from groups vested in it's practice, and ALL of it's benefits can be achieved with simple basic hygiene and condom use.

As for the daring to think the kid should have a say:

"The practice violates all seven principles of the American Medical Association's code of ethics."[118] As currently practiced in U.S. hospitals, circumcision is essentially cosmetic surgery not only done without anesthesia, but done, obviously, without the informed consent of the patient. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Bioethics, "Parental permission [as proxy consent] is only acceptable in situations where medical intervention has a clear and immediate medical necessity." George Denniston MD

I'm glad I was circumcised because an uncut penis, according to European porn, is just weird. But I don't get the religious aspect of it. Let me get this straight. God created man with an appendage that he degrees you must cut off. Well then why create the appendage in the first place? Asshole. Is it an excuse for a rabbi to go down on a child?

So, uhm. Yeah. About that...

You're quoting something about female genital mutilation, which is practiced in some parts of Africa and the Middle east. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with a medical female circumcision.

Mugato: I'm glad I was circumcised because an uncut penis, according to European porn, is just weird

Your opinion about whether a part of you was removed is based upon what's considered weird in porn?

As for the endless cut vs uncut debate, I'll just go on the record and say that, for me anyway, foreskin (or lack thereof) isn't anywhere near as important as personal hygiene.
