I guess a few colleges have even set up programs for this. Any health studies that are negative about obesity are called "sizist" or whatever.

Yeah... it boggles the mind.

They usually start with the plausible assertion that being morbidly obese does not necessarily mean you're unhealthy in all cases (much like *some* people can smoke 3 packs a day and die at 99), and then the derp begins:
- Some morbidly obese people are healthy; I'm morbidly obese; therefore I'm healthy (the word "some" is conveniently ignored)
- If I'm craving 2 boxes of donuts, it's just my body telling me what I need (intuitive eating), and therefore I should eat the two boxes of donuts
- Everybody has a genetically set weight; If I continue to gain weight, it's just that my body hasn't reached it's appropriate level yet (because natural selection/evolution obviously favours creatures who are to fat to walk without assistance [and, ergo, are too fat to escape from predators]
- Diets don't work (which is true--as soon as you go off a diet and back to the 8000 calories a day, you tend to gain back the weight!). Very little mention is made regarding lifestyle changes, however
- A cherry-picked, misinterpreted study done in 1975 on prisoners who were fed a starvation diet, etc. is inconclusive scientific proof that it's impossible to lose weight
- The sizest society we live in needs to accomodate fat people (wider airline seats at the same prices, gurneys to life people onto hospital beds, etc.)
- "Fat Studies" is a credible academic pursuit and not at all driven by people who have been marginalized all their lives who are seeking to fill their pathetic existence with some kind of meaning
