Probably the same ones who drag crosses and big signs up and down Bourbon St.

Long before the SuperDome,
Where the Saints of football play,
Lived a city that the damned called home.
Hear their hellish roundelay...

Were you expecting a Protestant Pastor to care about predominantly Catholic New Orleans?

Surely you jest!

Yes they do. I have heard it myself first hand. And if prayer deflection fails, the pastor can blame it on his follower's lack of faith. It's win-win.

"Because fu(k New Orleans, that's why," the pastor was quoted as saying.

A hurricane hitting New Orleans will not only divert media coverage away from the RNC but will make them seem even more callous and out of touch if there is significant damage and loss of life. How can they go on about the dangers big government when there is a state of emergency and they need FEMA to save them.

Repubs show good planning & strategery by holding convention in hurricane zone during hurricane season. Are you sure you want these people in charge?

Nice convention ya got there. Be a shame if anything were to happen to it.

Seems odd that prayer can steer a hurricane away and destroy a bunch of people down the coast from you instead, but can't make it just die out and not hurt anybody. Bit of a lame God you have there.

Guaranteed this pastor either plays hide the salami regularly with his buddies in Christ, or has to visit certain clinics in the next state over to get treated for that burning that won't go away despite the fact he changed hooker brands.

So God sends a hurricane to a highly populated area rather than let it run out to sea? Wow, what a dick.

Wow... for once I am almost speechless.

Just when you thought the Looney Bin Right couldn't get any more derp

Stop it libtards. The pastor is just glad that his oily haired collection plate padders and their rentboys won't have a bad 3 day party.

It's something Christ would want.

I'm going to burn down your house, unless you really beg me, then I'll burn down your neighbour's house instead.

God seems to be ignoring that whole "love your neighbour as yourself" thing his son went on about. God is a terrible Christian.

I'm guessing that she has not heard that Romney is Mormon.

Sh*t's gonna hit the fan when she figures that one out.

Actually, they rarely blame it on "lack of faith" anymore. Now, it would be all part of "God's Plan", and we're not meant to understand it.

So they prayed to safe the Church of Scientology's headquarters and organization structure that is in the area? Good for them, I guess.

"We have had lots and lots of people praying around the clock that it would move, and after you watch from the very beginning where they were saying it was coming and now where they say it is going, then it has really moved out of the way for us and we appreciate God doing that and moving it for us."

I don't usually see the 'lack of faith among followers' or the 'god's plan' excuse much in these cases. If their prayer-wall fails, they usually blame it on other non-Christians in the area, or Christians not among their congregation for not being Christian enough.

Luck (and divine intervention, it seems) is a zero-sum game. Bad weather over Kokura was very good luck for the residents there and very bad luck for Nagasaki.

One of the reasons why church should be completely removed from government and state affairs is that there is less of an incentive to show off stupidity of this caliber.

Praying that someone else gets cancer in place of you is terribly heroic.

I could just imagine, they have a Justice League style opening. And then they save the RNC!
"Hey how about some of those 3rd World Countries? Or non-Republican filled areas?"
"Eh...there's a lot of gay to pray away."
*they fly pray off into the sunset*

See? Prayer works as long as you can make a better case for your request or have more people on your side praying.

This is why people prey at sporting events. As long as you have numbers on your side, God will make sure the ball bounces your way.

Damn straight it is. And Catholics, which would make a lot of those fundamentalist pastors happy.

2012-08-28 08:59:08 AM
Of course this was coming. If it had hit Tampa and been a Cat 3, they would have said that their prayers kept it from being a 5. It's all self satisfied magical thinking.

Well, New Orleans is a wretched hive of democrats, sin and villainy.

This is why each Chinese Olympic medal is worth three or fourth US ones, as they don't have God cheating for them.

Ok.

I give up.

Is no one going to point out the good Pastor looks like a fourth runner up from the Drag Queen Convention held the week before?

Or is that just being petty?
