The committee has raised just 10 percent of the $2.8 million needed to complete a mile of fencing

They need to get their labor costs down, if only there were a supply of cheap labor in that part of the country

2012-08-27 05:18:33 PM
Well, glad to see their priorities are in the right place.

So they don't have enough money for a single mile of fencing, they haven't been holding meetings, and they haven't been submitting the monthly reports that they themselves required. Sounds like business as usual with the AZ GOP.

The war on immigration isn't about results, any more than the war on drugs is.

People snuck onto ships and crossed the farking Atlantic to get here. Why does anyone think a fence is going to stop anything, especially given how shiatty Mexico is?

Isn't the border like 400 miles long?

Nogales has a fence surrounding it.  I used to love Nogales that restaraunt up the hill with the fountain courtyard is awesome.  I hear it closed because everyone got paranoid about drug violence.

The whole fence thing is only making things uglier.  It's not a solution and it's embarrasing.

I assume when they pick up the fence materials at Home Depot they can grab a couple guys from the parking lot.

aw, isn't that nice! Arizona is building a fence to protect mexico from the local Republicans....

we should send arizona a fruit basket or something.

If they would just set up our armed forces with 50cal all along the border they won't be comming across. Problem solved.

They can pick up everything they need at Home Depot, including the labor.

Yeah but you know those Republicans... they'll be firing back with their own guns. And can California really afford that kind of cost?

On the one hand, I'm appalled at this blatantly racist attempt to eliminate the reason why America is the wonderful melting pot it is.

On the other hand, I can see this generating a lot of jobs which ought to be good for the economy.

It's about time somebody built something like this in order to prove that the idea is completely worthless.

They are just going to hire the same brown people to build it that they are trying to keep out. They will build seekrit trap doors and shiat anyway.

I say we just build a fence around the entire CONUS, including the coasts. Imagine the job creation!

They really need to read a book or two. When Vlad Tsepes needed a way to keep the turks from his kingdom did he build a fence? NO!!! Like any honest christian he cut the heads off of his enemies and put them on pikes as warnings to would be invaders. Arizona needs to take off the silken glove already and show it means business.

You actually think that the influx of millions of illiterate dirt farmers and their 8.2 children per family without any regulation and/or screening is a good thing?

I understand your feelings on the matter, but like all American citizens, people from Kansas have a right to move to a different state if they want to.

The committee has raised just 10 percent of the $2.8 million needed to complete a mile of fencing. The ultimate goal is to build 200 miles of border fencing.

AZ population: 6.5 million

So you want to spend $560 million dollars just erecting a fence, on just one side of your border? Your citizens are willing to spend $86 each man, woman, child, elderly, etc, just to put up the fence? How much is this bad boy gonna cost you to maintain and patrol every year? How much property tax revenue will the state lose on land that you'll have to own instead of private citizens owning it? How much will the cost of everything from food to upgrading your home go up once you take away the Mexican immigrants? Do you think this will actually do anything to stop illegal immigrants anyhow?

Holy shiat, you people are a farking joke.

Why throw the baby out with the bathwater? Instead of deporting citizens who disagree with you, why not set up a facility to teach them how to think in a Party-approved manner? You could have this kind of re-education take place in a pastoral setting away from the city, perhaps a camp of some sort...

they are using prison labour. So.. the other hand isn't there

The fence isn't going to work. Everyone knows it. A moat wouldn't work.

Migration isn't a problem, it's a phenomenon, and as such requires management rather than attempted "solutions".
