This is awesome

That *is* awesome! Damn, I love Tom Hanks. He's always given the impression that he's more than happy to make fun of himself and not take himself too seriously.

Only problem now is that the poor guy's going to be inundated by drunken frat boys trying to steal his glasses.

Back when SNL was remotely good, a Tom Hanks episode was always a good episode

In a related note: how have Bill Murray and Hanks never been in a movie together?

I'm fairly certain film technology as we know it cannot handle that level of awesome; it'd just come out like someone over exposed the film

The writer was making with the funny by identifying Bill Murray by his career lowlights until he mentioned "Quick Change".

That movie was awesome.

Ok, my bucket list now includes: Get drunk with Tom Hanks.

If it were to happen, I think that might possibly be the best day of my life.

Tom Hanks. I love this goofy half of you. I'd love the other, more serious, half too if it weren't so incredibly dbaggy, like a lesser Spielberg.

Mr. Hanks, where has the goofy Bosom Buddies / Joe Vs the Volcano / Big side of you gone? Bring it back on occasion. Please?

I remember in college I was channel surfing and came upon a wretched sitcom starring Thea Leoni as a paparazzi photographer but for whatever reason stopped on it because Tom Hanks was just standing around in the background. He was doing something where he was fiddling with a down zipper fly but it was stuck so a pair of male waiters get down on their knees to help him all the while Thea is trying to keep it together and not break out the camera (as it was a job interview scene or something just as serious). There was something about that scene that made me really appreciate Tom Hanks a lot more as an entertainer. He made me forget I was watching whatever that show was called for a couple of minutes.

I love that Hanks isn't a typical tight assed celeb. I can't imagine say, Sean Penn or Brad Pitt being so cool about something like that.

CSB:

Back in college, one of my business electives was a real estate finance and investment class, and our professor showed us the movie.

"Is he smart?"

Its a fun movie. I also left out Bachelor Party (which I love). And, The 'burbs (which I also love). In fact, I prefer both of these to Big, and perhaps even Joe Vs. The Volcano (though, that one is amazing, if only for the opening sequence of Hanks at work).

His '80s work is really great for goofy/silly comedies.

The gays and women killed this side with the one-two punch of Sleepless in Seattle and Philadelphia. From this gay man, I apologize for the harm we did.

/Woody is a good consolation prize, but still doesn't fully compensate

Very wrong, apparently.

The 'Burbs is a fantastic film. And as great as Hanks is, Bruce Dern stole every scene in that movie.

I love how old he is in that cover, when the movie was his first leading role, and his second credit (first was He Knows You're Alone).

I tried working on the Hanks photoshop.

The problem is, because of his shoulder being blocked out of the shot, I need something in front of him for him to point and laugh at.
