By the time they get through the "disinviting people who make us look like nut jorbs", the entire convention could be held in the lobby of the Airport Marriot.

2012-08-27 11:19:48 AM
LOL! I guess the birther nonsense isn't going to play, after all.

2012-08-27 11:20:03 AM
Probably still show up in a video.

they probably realized his little stunt to fire an Obama impersonator went over like a fart in church and was scrapped.

Uh, unless the words in this article mean something other than what I would commonly associate as their meaning, Donald Trump was not "fired" from the GOP convention. He was unavailable any other day this week despite the GOP's efforts to reschedule him.

Having Ted Nugent in black-face for the skit crossed the line.

The boys like to get together in the hotel rooms during the evenings and watch Archie films and likely the Trump will have some priceless video clips playing as well.

Top Romney aide Russ Schriefer said Trump wasn't speaking because could no longer make it on a conference call with reporters Monday.

"It's my understanding that Mr. Trump was in town yesterday," Schriefer said. But with Monday was canceled, "he couldn't make it the rest of the week."

Both of those sentences are bigger trainwrecks than The Birfers.

I thought that what Trump was going to do was so outrageous, so impressive, so outstanding, so mega Trumptacular additional superlative that it was unmissable, at least according to him. And when it was so obvious and primed for fail, they found a shiatty excuse to give Trump an exit strategy and save face. Once again, he's all hat, no cattle.

And again, here we are blaming it on the black guy.

I hope they turn around and start pretending that THIS is the special Trump surprise they've been talking up for the last week or so.

Hey, Mitt's good friends with those Marriott guys . He could probably get good deal on the venue.

What a sad little person he must be.

Damn you Pat Robertson!

So either they fired him, or he was just too busy and couldn't find room in his schedule to take a night to speak at the single most important event for his party all year, even though he's known about it for months and has the wherewithal to fly in from wherever he is just to talk, and he just couldn't make it.

In which case, they fired him for being a self-important loon.

I was counting on Trump to bring the crazy and the Birther. Are Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann still on tap?

I'd roll my eyes at Trump firing someone who looks like Obama but a fart in a church would make me laugh uncontrollably.

Amazing. They show some tact and planning.

2012-08-27 12:30:24 PM
I'm sure they just weren't aware of his racist shenanigans, getting him to speak as a businessman, and got rid of him as soon as these things came to light.

I'm sure this had nothing to do with the backlash at their continued embrace of racists.

2012-08-27 12:31:05 PM
With the risk of possible hurricane force winds it would have been bad news for the Donald's hair piece anyway.

Earplugs will be needed because the sounds of shoe tapping will be akin to the sound of Savion Glover performing on acid and hooked up to a car battery.

What backlash? No Republican cares about racism, except to be in favor of it.

Was it a bad idea to give the Birther King Donald Trump a main role in the convention?

The ones who haven't yet been run out of the party? Why would they worry about those three?

Probably worried that his hair would detach and kill someone in that wind.

They could not run the risk of Donald's hairpiece flying off in a tropical storm and sailing into the crowd at hurricane-force speeds, causing potential death or injury to delegates and innocent passersby alike. Plus, ever since the awful tragedy that occurred at the Star Trek convention in Boca Raton back in '92 as Hurricane Andrew made landfall (sometimes referred to as "the Shatner incident"), the State of Florida has strictly regulated the use of Toupees of Mass Destruction during high wind advisories.

Donald Trump wanted to be their, but he had much more important things to attend to - like determining whether Tootie from "The Facts of Life" or Spuds McKenzie would do a better job of running a fake company.

Speculation in double-sided tape had driven the price up. Prices have now returned to July levels.

LockeOak: There are Republicans who like Mike Huckabee, unlike the few doofuses that go for Trump.

Yes, but Huckabee is rather pissed off right now at Republican leadership for "abandoning" Todd Akin. Putting him on stage runs the risk of him spouting his pro-rape theology to the world, while standing under the Republican banner

2012-08-27 01:04:52 PM
What the heck was going to be his surprise? Everyone figured the "YOU'RE FIRED" thing he would do for Obama. What's he going to do? Say "YOU'RE HIRED" to Romney? Make the GOP a bigger laughingstock with a newlyfound claim on Obama's birth certificate? Was it even going to matter?

2012-08-27 01:05:26 PM
Bwahahah! All his time and work on his little jokey-joke with the impersonator is out the window.

2012-08-27 01:05:46 PM
You've alienated everyone in the country who isn't a nutjob. It's a little late to jettison the kooks, too.

2012-08-27 01:10:22 PM
I'm my own worst enemy here, but seriously folks, how in the fark are we giving Trump any frigging attention. Why are we all so stupid. Is existence truly going to end on 12/22/12? An inquiring mind wants to know. Anyone who speaks of Trump should have their tongue cut out and folks (like me) who type about Trump should have to, ulp, be ravaged by a beautiful sex object of their choice (whew!). He is the most cooontish person on the planet.

Sounds about right.

In the event Obama wins the election, I wonder how many Republicans will blame Romney's loss on the distraction of a natural disaster from their convention

Huckabee has been an arsehole for awhile but he has really flared up with the 'Chick-Fil-A Day" incident and he thinks that Akin was being given a "carefully orchestrated and systematic attack" from the GOP that's condemning him for it.

It's like he doesn't understand WHY people from both sides are pissed at Akin.
