On top of the Tooth of Time? Was last up there 25 years ago. Nice.

My kids and I were talking about our best memories ever recently, and I mentioned my time at Philmont as some of my best. I don't actually recall whether I made it to the Tooth during my trips there. I was there in '82 and '83, so my memories are a little fuzzy.

We were going to be in Munich anyway, and Neuschwanstein was on my Bucket List, so we made a 24-hour excursion out of it. Being that close, and not managing to see something of that caliber, is a fantastic way to create long-lasting regrets, as I discovered in Budapest a few days before.

We went up at the very end of the day, so I feel like we missed the worst of the crowds. Very pleased. Didn't get the hot tour guide, though...

possumchild: I got a colonoscopy! Looks great doesn't it?
Hey, wait, why won't this photo upload? I'll try again later.

CSB Time:
My GP gave me a heckuva 50th birthday present last year. First, the "twilight" or whatever anesthetic for the colonoscopy had no effect, so perhaps like you I had now choice but to gleefully learn the appearance of every inch of my colon-no wonder they call it "the LARGE intestine." (No polyps, so really no complaints.)
That was a playful warmup for:
THE CAMERA UP THE BLADDER!!!
First, a pretty little nurse comes in and puts 2 clamps (think binder clips) on my peen and leaves the room for half an hour.
Then, she and the doc come in and fire up the Torquemada Industries Creeper/Peeper 3000. (If you're afraid of snakes, it must be terrifying beyond belief.)
Now, keep in mind, no med's (shoot, I was on Xanax at the time-could have done it myself), no stern words of warning, not even a "Now, this may be a little uncomfortable..."
So, I'm trying to relax so it will just slide right in (new sympathy for females), which it kind of does up the peen, but then, the moment of TRUTH:
You know that sphincter muscle that (hopefully) keeps you from leaving a trail of urine everywhere? (You, too, ladies!)
For some mysterious reason, the sphincter doesn't LIKE having a pencil-sized writhing object pass thru it!
Although my torture was not over, I will kindly end yours now.
/I think (hope) I just put a few urologists back in general practice. (One in particular!)
//End CSB. May it R.I.P.

Not really. All of the pictures i saw before the trip were the usual up close and personal ones. When your there and looking up, your still maybe 250 yards away from the carvings. So while my pictures may appear smaller, it was still quite the monument.

Now THIS memorial will be huge.

Oh man... I feel you pain. I had a cystoscopy last year and guess what? Turns out I'm highly resistant to Propofol. I dont so much blame the urologist as I blame the anesthesiologist who, I don't know, didn't think to do anything when his previously semi-conscious patient was screaming on the operating table. Spent two weeks on this bed spawned from Hell:
s16.postimage.org

Wife got Pancreatitus and gallstones. Her gallbladder was surgically removed. I slept in that cursed bed all two weeks so my wife wasn't alone and the farking nursing staff didn't kill her. We had a small handful of great nurses, but the norm was crap. We complained to patient relations twice with the last time leaving them speechless. On more than one occasion a nurse or a tech would nearly rip the IV out of her arm trying to "help" her. The doctor would stop one drug, replace it with a different drug, and the staff would just administer both to her. They'd ignore what she was saying, relay the misinformation to the doctor, he'd change the orders on the "new" information, and she'd end up in excruciating pain until she saw the doctor 12 hours later plus additional wait time on them getting around to doing the new drugs. On the last day she had an asthma attack; after three calls and her gasping for air, I broke into the lock-box and handed her rescue inhaler. The respiratory specialist rolled around an hour later, he just asked if she got her medication, and walked off without giving a fark.

/Northside Hospital in GA is great at birthing babies; they have that shiat down to a science. Don't bother going to the Forsyth campus at least if you or your loved one doesn't want to risk dying in a farking hostpital. Their doctors are fine, it's the rest of the staff that doesn't give a fark.

Holy crap. We vacationed close to each other. We stay in Ste. Anne des Monts... made about halfway out to Gaspe this year on various day tours.

The first time I was going to get engaged, I wanted to drive from Boston to the Percé. I figured the promontory of North America would be perfect.

Now I'm getting married to a different woman and I still haven't been there. It's also a lot farther away since I live in Los Angeles.

how was it? that's where we are planning our honeymoon; there and island of man for the TT races

Not the poster of the above, but we spent 5 days cycling the NW part of Ireland, from Galway north, and loved it. That part of the country is ridiculously beautiful and no where near as expensive as Dublin.

ElLoco: Meh. Been covered up with work this summer and didn't go anywhere. At all. It was an awful, boring summer.
Lot's of really cool pics in this thread so far to show me stuff that I missed.

Guess I could post a couple of my tired dawgs riding with me after a long weekend of catching up on work type stuffs yesterday.

I went to NYC and spent four straight days at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Love that place.
