It was a good movie, but it was more of a CSI story than an X-Files story, if it had not been called X-files and had the same actors it would have been better received.

It was a really good creepy one off story. Kept the franchise going as well as showing where the characters are and for some reason Xzibit was there.

I think people spent too much time complaining that Xzibit was in the movie, when he really wasn't detrimental to the movie (and the way the Amanda Peet subplot played out was surprisingly sad).

Dear Chris, David and Gillian:

The reason Fox isn't excited is because not enough people remember or care about the plot in your 9 season long show for Fox to make money on the movie. This is evidenced by your last movie. Yes, It made a LITTLE money 9since we all know that just breaking even on budget-vs-box-office-returns doesn't mean the studio makes money). Fox is in the buisness of making LOTS of money.

Now I would love to see another movie. I enjoyed your last one as it harkened back to your "monster of the week" episodes and I throughly enjoyed it. Let's be real though folks. Your movie won't happen.

Enjoy your syndication checks, move on to other projects and stop trying to convince Fox to do something you know it won't do. Stop getting the fans' hopes up.

Sincerely yours,
Jim

P.S. Yes Gillian, you may not be as hot as you used to be, I still find you quite acceptable

You can keep shaking that money tree, but I'm not sure how much more is going to fall out after that last stinker of a movie.

It was an X-Files story, but it was a stand alone story rather than being part of the grand conspiracy. It was basically a two hour episode of the show. If taken in that level, it was really good.

This. I have all the season DVD sets up to five and the films. There are a couple episodes in six and seven I wish I had, but not enough to acknowledge has directionless the show got since Carter focused on a grand story arc he was making up as he went along.

I liked both films for what they were. The problem is that they have been spaced so far apart that people have a hard time following it (outside of the hardcore fans, that is). They should've pulled a Lord of the Rings and just filmed three of them at once to end the narrative.

*Raises hand* I know it's been ages since the disappointing sequel, but I'd like a satisfying denoument to the overarching human-alien conspiracy narrative. *Shrugs*

Yeah. Agent T-1000 was good, but the final season's super soldier arc just didn't cut it.

Do check out the S9 Episode "John Doe", though. It's a good standalone Agent T-1000 episode that digs into his past. And, the Lone Gunmen wrapup episode was in S9.

Un-kill the lone gunmen and give them their show back! Make it that they felt they had to fake their death cause they were "getting to close" but now they are coming out of retirement to spread the truth...

As much as I wanted to love TLG show, it kinda sucked. They went way too far for the cheesy slapstick comedy.

After all the psudo drama of the X Files, it was nice to watch a show that was more about the fun, the entertainment...

I understand that, but it was really, *really* stupid. I mean, what was the point of the jock guy? And dog poo jokes? They went too far in the other direction from the X-Files.

I like that it was a stand-alone story mixed with a bit of a resolution from the series' ending... but neither aspect was terribly interesting in execution.

Same here. I loved the first couple seasons of the series, then I caught on that the plot existed solely to perpetuate itself - there were no long term plans, it was just going to keep going. The first movie was the last straw for me; all this crap happens to return the series to status quo.

By the time the second one came out, enough time had passed for me to not be irritated with the series. I liked it.
