Really, how can anyone believe that crap. I think that the reason Armstrong shunned the spotlight was that deep down, he was ashamed to have been associated with such an obviously faked Moon "landing".

The technology used for his wireless radio transceiver is still in use today. It's used for fast food drive-thru wireless sets.

I want you to look at that again. Carefully. Pay special note of the lower-case letters interspersed between the upper-case letters that spell out "FAKE!".

Well, I *HAD* to put something in there. This being Fark, I knew some people would take it seriously, and yeah, I got a bite. I'm actually a big fan of the Apollo missions.

You might want to check out the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal. Awesome resource.

It really puts everything we've heard about the descent into place. Besides the 1202 alarms that keep popping up, near the end, Houston says "60 seconds" and then "30 seconds". That's how much fuel they had left. Brass indeed.

Isn't there an HD transfer of the Apollo 11 16mm film? All the Apollo EVA film should look as good as this clip from Apollo 16.

I remember as a kid arranging to watch some of this at a friends house because he had a color TV, a big deal back then. And yet the first images were broadcast in black & white. Still awesome beyond belief.

"Buzz, are you ready to pass that camera down?"

The following "yeah" was quite possibly the most intense example of suppressed emotion ever.

"Let me just pass you the camera, I can totally wait to hop out of this space ship and walk on the damn moon. Take your time, Neil."

Ha, you believe France is a real place? I've never been there. Have you? How would you know?
The plane could take you anywhere. What you see in movies is just a giant film set as far as I'm concerned.

That was beautiful!

Anyone know who the guy was that he punched? I bet he has a very entertaining website.

From Wikipedia:

On September 9, 2002 Aldrin was lured to a Beverly Hills hotel on the pretext of being interviewed for a Japanese children's television show. When he arrived, Apollo Conspiracy proponent Bart Sibrel accosted him with a film crew and demanded he swear on a Bible that the Moon landings were not faked. After a brief confrontation Aldrin punched Sibrel on the jaw. The police determined that Aldrin was provoked and no charges were filed. Aldrin dedicates a chapter to this incident in his autobiography "Magnificent Desolation".

There are longer versions of the punching video on Youtube. Buzz actually endured several minutes of Mr. Sibrel's shenanigans before the supremely well-deserved punch.
