The problem is getting the gibbons to stand still long for the whole opera.

I love scientific research most of the time, but this just seems like a waste of already scarce (on Earth) helium.

Indeed. I was just talking to some folks today about dual-stage cryocompressors... we could chill the gibbons to 0.1 K and see what kind of noise they make!
