He's probably spent 24 years being coddled. It'll be good for him.

It doesn't help that he has been acting like a teenager.

He is a Representative of an organization that has an image to maintain, especially as "America's Team". You can't help your teammates from jail or a suspension from the warden commissioner Goodell. Lastly Dez is cool with the terms so here's hoping he can help himself and the team.

Doesn't he regularly beat up his mom, who is only 14 years older than him?

Well goodness knows that no player who had a security detail with him ever got into trouble.

This is exactly it. If he does want to do any of the things that the Cowboys say he can't then just resign and leave all that money on the table and go live your life. Once you sign on the dotted line however then along with all that cash comes with it certain responsibilities. It bugs the hell out of me when sports stars say things like, 'I'm no role-model blah blah blah'. No, what you are is an employee and if they say you can't get arrested then guess what, don't get arrested or don't work there any more.

Considering this happens ALL THE TIME in ALL professional sports (teams mandating specific curfews and limitations to certain problem childs on their roster), I'm assuming this is mostly a big story because ole' Jerrah is finally nutting up.

If that 24-year-old actually had the maturity of a high school freshman they probably wouldn't have to do this.

There are plenty of players who go out boozin and to night clubs and strip clubs. The difference is they are smart enough to be responsible about it and not end up in the situations Dez has put himself in Go enjoy a private lap dance. Don't make it rain on the main stage, especially in the age of phone cameras. It isn't rocket surgery. Then again, alot of these guys have rarely been held accountable of things off field in their lives.

Cowboys are treating a 24-yr old man, with the maturity of a high school freshman, and who appears to who flounder without a system of strict behavioral limits and penalties, like a high school freshman, in an attempt to give him what he needs to help him develop more maturity, and also to protect their investment.

Exactly, whens he's shown to be prone to getting into trouble then that's his fault, be glad he can catch a football because otherwise a regular job would have just fired him.

He's been coddled ever since he could play ball, so at least 10 years and no guidance from his mother explains a lot.

Oklahoma State used to be Oklahoma A&M. "Aggie" is a still-commonly used term to deride their students.

I am happy about what they are doing, but Im not understanding why Dez gets a pass from the public and pacman jones was demonized under similar circumstances.

Im assuming cause most of his problems have been somewhat minor so far compared to pacman? Im seriously asking, I dont remember Jones rap sheet and dont care enough to look it up.

Yeah. Why would a good looking athletic guy with a lot of cash want to have sex with tons of hot women. The whole idea of a group of hot chicks rubbing their bodies all over you to electronic music is really just off putting.

First, how did you get into a strip club at 17? Ans second, plenty if good things happen past midnight the problem is you have to know when to leave so's you don't gets arrested.

As far as I can tell, he's only had one actual criminal charge so far, a misdemeanor for punching his mother. This is the same mother who was arrested for dealing crack when he was 8 years old; she wasn't much of a mother at all, but now that he has money of course she's back in the picture. Pacman, on the other hand, was arrested for beating up a random stripper, threatening the life of the guard who stopped him, and having a member of his entourage return a little while later to shoot the place up, wounding three people and paralyzing one. He might very well end up the next Pacman, but at this point it's still pretty easy to sympathize with Bryant. He clearly has issues, but at this point he hasn't done anything so terrible.

He's a representative of the douchiest team in the league, run by a batshiat crazy hick. I'd say these measures would make him a poor representative if successful.

This.

I hate to make excuses for professional athletes, but Dez had a terrible home life. His mother was pregnant with him when she was 13. She was (and I believe still is) a crack ho. She never took care of him at all. Dad, of course, has never been in the picture. Mom is now back in the picture for the money. Dez, out of some misguided sense of loyalty and probably some desire to have a family, is trying to take care of her. She's a complete piece of sh_t and is out of control. So is he. They had a fight recently and he was arrested for hitting her. While he was at Oklahoma State, he had a fairly quite existence, but I also know they took care of him and watched him like a hawk. So when he was in a structured system without huge amounts of cash, he did just fine. Now that he's out of that system and has a lot of money, not so great.
