yeah, i don't think so. why is he even trying? they're petulant children. they won't cooperate with anyone.

2012-08-26 10:55:14 AM
They may cooperate more, since he can't run in 2016. I'm sure they'll still be PITAs as much as they can.

2012-08-26 11:03:49 AM
He really does believe in the basic goodness of his fellow man, doesn't he? This is what happens when you live most of life in Liberal academia- you start thinking that people are decent. If he had spent his professional life in an organization like Bain Capital, he would realize that a lot of people are basically assholes, and will screw over anyone to make a buck or score political points.

2012-08-26 12:10:21 PM
Goddamn is he an idiot.

2012-08-26 12:21:07 PM
Conservatives, THIS is the evidence of incompetence you're looking for.

2012-08-26 12:25:42 PM
And if he doesn't get re-elected, the GOP has found their playbook for every time a Democrat wins the presidency. USA USA USA...

2012-08-26 12:27:43 PM
I think he's trolling again

2012-08-26 12:43:01 PM
The only way that conservatives will compromise with Obama is if they're voted out of office.

2012-08-26 12:48:35 PM

MaudlinMutantMollusk: I think he's trolling again

Yeah, If they stomp their feet and chant in unison that they are willing to give up four more years out of spite, they look even more petty than they already do. If they lie and say, "No, no the fragile state of our economy is way too important not to rise above petty rivalries..." they shake their base.

Best option....ignore it.

2012-08-26 01:04:05 PM
When Obama gets re-elected the GOP will vow to do everything in their power to make him a two- term president.

You will see the word impeachment thrown around a lot more.

Why?

You do know he has to say this, right? Or are you an idiot...

2012-08-26 01:17:48 PM
Yeah yeah, so what are you gonna do? Vote Romney?

He's in election mode: playing to the moderates and undecideds who still care about that "reaching across the aisle" junk. After getting re-elected he will either start playing hardball with the threat of getting voted out behind him or keep doing the same: minimizing the damage done by nonsensical legislative rules and separation of powers.

Either way, it's light years better than a Republican White House and Congress.

GAT_00: Goddamn is he an idiot.

Oh you don't understand. He's playing chess and the repubs are playing checkers. Right when it looks like hes about to lose he's gonna spring some genius strategy on their ass and make them look like total fools which will give him a landslide victory.

Just like in 2010.

2012-08-26 01:18:29 PM
If he spends the next four years compromising and trying to work together like the last four years...it will be a waste of a re-election.

2012-08-26 01:18:33 PM
Obama: I've made no effort at all to cooperate with Republicans and its been my way or no way since minute one of my administration but like everything else, that's not my fault, it's the Republicans.

The problem with Obama supports is that they think he's being ernest about everything he says. He's being a politician here -- and a good one.

He has to fight the idea that he can't get this congress to do anything -- that he is incompetent. So he says this. And he gets to throw the word 'compromise' around for independents.

Despite the most obstruction ever, he's gotten a lot of shiat done.

Stop picking on Obama

Because compromising and leaving stupid defense spending in doesn't sound like something Obama would do at all.

There was a time when Dems could have cut their losses but that time is past.

Now you are gonna lose no matter what happens.

He wasn't but the Democrats farked up the midterms, giving in to Republican demands for spending cuts. After which, the Republicans' ran thousands of ad saying "Obama is cutting your Medicare!!1!!"

Keep in mind Ryan said the Generals were lying about agreeing to Obama's budget, in order to give them more money. Obama has his faults, but he's not a neocon.

This is to counter accusations by the republicans that the divisiveness of the last four years is the democrat's fault. It kind of puts them on the spot. They can either say 'hell no, we won't compromise', which shows their campaign issue to be a lie, or they can say they will and look like wimps to their base. This is the type of subtle move I expect from him.

There are many ways of looking at 2010 but I recall that election being a matter of voter apathy and nothing more. Liberals and left-leaning moderates were so pissy at Obama not locking up Republican Congressmen for treason or some such that they sat on their hands and let Congress go plaid.

Fortunately Presidential elections have a way of bring the derp front in center in a way midterms never can.

There is NO WAY that a human being who can figure how how to use a key board can make such a stupid remark as this - have you been asleep like Rip Van Winkle or what, inquiring minds want to know. Why do you think progressive liberals like myself are so disappointed in Obama - why do you think the Bush tax cuts for the very wealthy got re-upped. Why do you think that Obamacare (the EXACT thing the Republicans wanted in the 90's and was enacted by a Republican in MA) was enacted instead of a single payer, everybody in Medicare program which was what was INITIALLY proposed by Obama (and every Democrat since Truman). You are just so frigging stupid that a response gets you the ignore button for eternity. It's just too Ann Coulter to have anything but the taste in one's mouth of what a turd smells like. I'll bet you have a 2 inch dick and tell everyone how it's 12 inches because that 1 is just a little lie and doesn't really make any difference, eh oui?

And this sentiment is why, should Obama win reelection, he needs to take his boot and stick it up Republicans ass sideways and break it off. Ignore congress and rule by executive fiat. Take every shortcut to get shiat done. They're gonna accuse you of it anyways, just like they have for 4 years, so might as well give them exactly what they want.

It's so much easier to do when the opposition has clearly and forcefully stated that they're completely disinterested in good governance, logic, facts, or fair play. Just run 'em over, they're a speed bump to progress.

2012-08-26 01:39:42 PM
Obama, you tried this for the first 2 years of your first term. Please don't try it again. They won't play ball.

i too hope this is a pragmatic political move and ANY indication by the republicans of not going along gets them biatch slapped.

my guess is obama gets reelected and tries to work with the republican leadership. who in turn realize they have to and we are semi ok. or since the house is up for reelection every two years they panic about being primaried and nothing gets done. so in 2014 the republicans lose the house and whatever senate seats are up. rainbows and unicorns become the order of the day and the republicans don't win another national election this century.

2012-08-26 01:46:36 PM
I think because Obama wouldn't be up for reelection again some of the partisan animosity would go away. It happened with Clinton.

THIS

The timing is pretty good too. Very few responses to this cant be used against them in the election.
