I'm glad to see Charlie Crist finally out of the closet in his love for Barack Obama.

Maybe he is speaking from his heart, but I also wonder if he didn't get paid enough or has an axe to grind.

It's pretty well-known here in FL that Crist de-facto switched parties to Democrat before the last midterm. This news isn't surprising in the least.

Sh*t just got real.

Fact 1) Cabinet positions open up at the beginning of an incumbent's second term
Fact 2) Presidents like to have a couple of token members of the other party in their cabinets

I'm sure those facts are entirely unrelated to this revelation.

Sounds like a reasonable guy who would be willing to compromise on issues for the good of everybody, not just his own party. In other words, an effective leader. No wonder the Republicans want nothing to do with him.

Sad thing is, if he would just admit that he's gay and announce that he'll be running as a Democrat because he was run out of the GOP, the guy would clean house in any election save the presidency. Maybe this is his baby steps move, testing the waters, but Crist is missing a golden opportunity here.

Crist only did that because he'd thoroughly alienated every single Republican voter in Florida and he's just trolling the untested waters of the Democrat Party.

Leopard, spots, etc.

lorida Gov. Rick Scott (R) is standing by his state's new policy of drug testing welfare recipients even after the American Civil Liberties Union challenged the scheme in a lawsuit and just 2.5 percent of beneficiaries flunked the first round of tests in July.

2.5%? of what the entire united states? I know people on welfare making MORE then me and they would FAIL any drug test given to them.

How so? Its florida... Get on welfare... make a cardboard sign that reads "army veteran of iraq war". You can snort all the drugs you want and be my neighbor.
Literally laughs at how he can make $50,000 a year without even having to wake up in the morning, just stroll out whenever he wants - long as he doesn't report it.

/Florida... think I am kidding? guy lost his leg in a motorcycle accident and won a lawsuit and bought a nice fancy home - realized he can't afford it so he plays the "I am a vet" routine.

Who do you call? nobody. Who gives a fark? nobody. Guess I should of been a farker who carves a backwards B in her face.
//damn right im jealous because I didn't think of it first

He bailed on the GOP because he's sane.

Who was Bush's? The last President to have as many cabinet secretaries from the other party was Roosevelt.

If by "axe to grind" you mean "is disgusted at the direction his party went", then yes, I guess he does.

So I suppose the question is, how many reasonable Republicans are there in Florida that have positive feelings towards Crist and that were maybe on the fence about Obama/Romney. It will be interesting watching 538 over the next week to see if there's any shift in the Florida numbers.

2012-08-26 01:05:21 AM
Well, first Moody's downgraded our credit rating because of the GOP's unwillingness to compromise. Then several Reagan and Bush Sr. staffers wrote articles about how sickened they are by the GOP's unwillingness to compromise.
Then John Roberts became the deciding vote for Obamacare's constitutionality because of the GOP's unwillingness to compromise.
Now a former GOP governor is endorsing Obama because of the GOP's unwillingness to compromise.

All of which could be solved by Obama simply doing whatever the GOP says.

Before attempting to pull out a grammar nazi card, please ensure your that own posts are bereft of spelling errors, are not missing words, use correct capitalization, do not use inappropriate or excessive ellipses, use appropriate hyphenation, are not littered with run-on sentences, and use correct slashie etiquette.

Thank you.

No sane Republican has voted Republican since at least 2004.

Hell, my entire extended family is heavily pro-military and/or ex-military, gun owning, meat eating, churchgoing, upper middle class or better, white, and either professionals or business owners. None of us vote Republican now either. Only some of us voted for Dubya the first time, and none of us the second. 2006 is LATE to have dropped them.
