How can you screw up a kidney transplant from a live donor? You take the kidney out of one person and place it in the other person. When my aunt gave my sister a kidney they didn't take if from my aunt and then wait a week to give it to my sister they did both operations on the same day no complications at all.

Well, yes and no. In a remote harvest, in my experience, the surgeon who's going to be transplanting the Kidney is present or part of the harvest team when the organ is removed. He usually travels with the organ back to the patient's side and performs the transplant. Part of the reason is since he made the cuts in the excised organs, he knows what cuts to make to re-implant it in the recipient.

Since this was a living donor in the same hospital, they were probably in the same OR, in side-by-side suites. All they would have had to do was walk a sterile tray containing the kidney from one end of the OR to the other, and through another door into the OR suite containing the recipient.

The only way I could possibly comprehend this having occurred was the OR Nurse mistook the kidney for the bad one, and dumped it in a patho bin - since all excised organs tend to go to the Pathology lab. The only other thing I can even think of is that the nurse did it intentionally and maliciously.

Has anybody actually SEEN the alleged kidney? How do we know the doctors and nurses didn't swipe it to sell on the organ black market?
