Robonaut looks like C-3PO but patterned after The Rocketeer. He shouldn't go in unless we actually start building robots that look like that.

Wall-E, on the other hand...

/all three fictional bots should get in

Wait - what ?

Fictional robots ? That's what we're voting on ? Well in that case, I'd like to have the Academy consider my Stu-bot ! A robot whose legs are are made of Voltron and Optimus Prime, arms are the T1000 and Johnny 5, Bender for a torso and a head that is one of those wind-up cymbal banging monkeys....

I vote for the Robotess Helena.

GIS for "Robotess Helena" or even "Robot Helena" is very unsatisfying. GIS for Helena Glory is kind of relevant, though.

The bigger fun than finding WALL-E is seeing how many of the robots you can name.

I can name a surprisingly high number of them. O what a sad, wasted life I've had....

Here's a list of the Robot Hall of Fame's "Fictional Robot" wing ...

HAL 9000 - computer system from 2001: A Space Odyssey
R2-D2 - droid from Star Wars
Astro Boy - robot from Astro Boy
C-3PO - droid from Star Wars
Robby the Robot - robot from Forbidden Planet
Maria - robot from Metropolis.
Gort - robot from The Day the Earth Stood Still
David - android-kid from A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Lieutenant Commander Data, android from Star Trek: The Next Generation
T-800 Terminator, from the 1984 movie The Terminator
Huey, Dewey, and Louie, from the 1972 movie Silent Running

It's not an unreasonable list. This year's three nominees are all reasonable choices: Rosie the Robot (Jetsons), Wall-E, and Johnny 5 (Short Circuit). Personally, I'd think Optimus Prime and KITT are the two most deserving. Maybe Mega Man.

I'd have rather voted for Optimus Prime, but I don't feel bad about voting for Johnny 5.

/i had to vote for Big Dog too, he's pretty badass.

Really? No R. Daneel Olivaw?

I'm really surprised there's no Asimov robot already in that list especially when C-3PO and David are listed when they have no business being on there.

What hurts R. Daneel is the lack of a great "Caves of Steel" movie. That would be the key.

I agree on the David, but C3PO has to go in with R2D2 (even though it was a different year), they are the ultimate matched set.
