Wow. Damn.

2012-08-25 11:51:56 AM
yeah wouldn't it be wonderful for people like him if America was more like China and people would kill each other to work in prison like conditions for a pittance? we need a billion people here all scrounging for scraps from their table. no more abortions,no more free education. no more labor unions. no benefits. just mindless drones. billions of them breaking their backs for you.

you didn't build that life and career. that was settled for you when you were born.

Until shoppers get smart and stop buying "made in China" guys like Romney will continue to speed up the death spiral our economy is in. That holds true for all foreign made products. We do make stuff here you just have to search the web to find where to buy it. Since women do most of the shopping in families they will have to make most of the change.

and that's a lie about those fences not for keeping people in. they are afraid their workers will carry out trade secrets. steal their prototypes and sell them to the competition. so they only let them out on certain days and they are searched before leaving.

Sounds like he was just kind of saying that he thinks Americans have it better than the Chinese.

They should be grateful to the almighty Job Creators™ for giving them the chance to work at the factory in the first place.

Like Romney cares about a few thousand disposable Chinese workers when there are precious, irreplaceable American dollars at stake.

that and the whole "95% of a successful life is done for you simply by being born here in the US"

Kinda contradicts his whole "you didn't build that" meme doesn't it?

also 95% of my life wasn't given to me thank you Mr. Romney. Yours was. But I was born to a poor family and had to work in textile mills my whole life.

I understand the RNC is next week, but the Obama campaign has been way too hands off recently. They're letting Romney redefine Medicare.

Same here, I've worked in factories which had no air conditioning or heat where we weren't permitted to speak to one another unless it was a work question asked to a supervisor, I've cleaned the homes of wealthy snobs and once I had my first real job with a future, I was only paid $6 per hour. At that time, I literally couldn't afford to eat every day of the week. I would skip days eating and lived in fear of turning on the lights or heat because I didn't know how I would pay the bill. I was employed but hungry. I've helped many people along the way and still do and some have helped me but no one ever gave me what I have today. Virtually none of my life was given to me without a lot of work.

F#ck you Mitt, you worthless piece of human excrement. You have no clue as to what the real American experience actually is.

Being born in a country that doesn't COMPLETELY suck isn't a bad start, though, to be fair.

I dunno, maybe I've just heard so much awful or bogus shiat lately that this one just doesn't get the juices flowing.

Um, at 14 seconds into the video he says they went to china to buy a factory there. He then goes on to describe the desperation of the employees of that factory and others, how they are so desperate they would work in conditions we would only consider barbaric and cruel. At no time does he say anything about improving the conditions.

Libertarians love to talk about the non-aggression principle, and how government is illegitimate because it uses 'force' and 'coercion' to collect taxes, but they are oddly silent on large corporations being allowed to use market forces to screw countless people.

Wage slavery and a company store? Thank God for freedom from oppressive, evil government, trying to tell me I can't f*ck my workers at every opportunity!

The best part is the beginning. "95% of life is set up for you if you were born in this country." It's nice to see Mr. Romney come around and agree with Mr. Obama's "you didn't build that" concept.

Romney sure sounded as if he admired the set up though. if nothing else, it didn't seem to bother him any.

I'm more worried about the implication that is 95% of life is set up for you, there is only a 5% chance of upward (or worse, downward) mobility. And he seems pretty happy about that.

he sounded THRILLED about that bit, actually. why do you think he and his fellow Republicans hate/fear the concept of social mobility? they see it as a zero sum game - if some schmuck is elevated from the middle class, a lot of Republican leaders really, honestly do believe that one of their 'inner circle' elites has to fall. they see a rising tide lifting all boats as something that would destroy their lifestyles, dilute their power/authority and weaken the country. To a prosperity gospel heretic, you aren't improving your lot in life, you're stealing money from the ruling class and upsetting the established order.

Romney added "the conditions were horrible, small bathrooms, cramped dormitories, 12 girls per room, 14-16 hour work days, 7 days per week, these poor young girls were working for a pittance... anyway, my Bain partners and I stuck our straws in that company and just drank their milkshake right up."

Yep. Unions just cheat hardworking job creators like Romney out of their hard earned acquired millions and the money would only go to waste anyway. I mean, they already have food and a place to sleep and work to keep them busy. What else do they need?

No one is saying we should go back to pre-depression era law for businesses. There are those who argue for a fluctuating minimum wage, and that is the closest you will find in that aspect. No one is trying to outlaw unions. No one is arguing for bullshiat company stores. No one is arguing for allowing children to work 60 hours a week in a coal mine.

As for letting corporations do whatever the fark they want, that is our responsibility. I hate having my goods made in China by an exploited worker. Problem is is that everyone biatches but no one does the most reasonable thing: stop buying their products. Consumers cannot do that. We are addicted to buying cheap Chinese crap. You will hear many say "I would gladly pay extra money for American made goods", but many of them are full of shiat. We consumers always go for the bottom dollar deals. No amount of regulation (with so many loopholes that it would crash a Unix system (ok, maybe a bit obscure)) can ever come close to the pain of making companies lose money because people dont want to buy their crap.

2012-08-25 06:47:56 PM
So what was the bad part there? Romney told a story about being in a factory in China. Big whoop.

I've told stories about being in factories in China before. It is a real eye opening experience for most to see how things are done in other parts of the world. So how is that vid supposed to make me want to vote for Obama?
