When the GOP wants to hear death metal, they'll up the Defense budget and request and Air Force flyover.

Why aren't there more tax metal bands?

Or better yet, debt metal bands. That's just as scary as death.

Never in my life has the thought ever occured to me that death metal came from Tampa. Early thrash from California or that weird Norwegian shiat... but Tampa? The birthplace of death metal? That can't be right, can it?

I thought it started with Venom, whom, if I'm not mistaken are from the UK.

Read the Wikipedia "Death Metal" article everybody.

Cultural origins Mid 1980s, United States (particularly Florida)

a second influential metal band was formed in Florida: Death.

other pioneers of death metal in the United States include Autopsy, Necrophagia, Master, Morbid Angel, Massacre, Atheist, Post Mortem,[35][36][37] Obituary and Deicide. (4 of these from Tampa, a 5th from Florida)

This collective of death metal bands hailing from Florida are often labeled as "Florida death metal".

I just finished the 4th season, I really like they've finally gone full on Biblical apocalypse with the story. I love Dethklok more than any other metal band. They take the piss and stupid drama out of metal and make it fun to listen again.

Venom aren't Death Metal. As the article notes, Deicide and Morbid Angel are both from Tampa and are both influencial/successful Death Metal bands, but I believe Cannibal Corpse is more successful (Wiki notes that the three bands are numbers two, three, and one in sales, respectively) and they're from Buffalo, and they're not even the first band attributed to the subgenre, so, yeah...

Alrighty then. As I said, I'm not a specialist.

Come to think of it, it may have been Black Metal.

Yeah, Venom are generally more associated with Black Metal (they're influencial in various forms of Extreme Metal, including Death Metal, but they've never done it).

However, the article is trying to claim that Tampa, specifically, is the origin of Death Metal, which is untrue when you consider that, of the two bands that are attributed with starting the subgenre, one isn't from the city and the other isn't even from the state (and, like I said, the most commercially successful Death Metal band isn't from the state, either).

So, two questions;

Question one: Is there a difference between "Black Metal" and "Death Metal"?

Question two: Is there anyone with a job and no tattoos who actually gives a rat's ass?

Yeah, it started in Florida, but the top quality groups originated in Sweden. Deicide and Obituary haven't released a decent album in years.

Venom was a key influence (black metal), but death metal requires the "cookie monster' vomit vocals.

So let's recap:

Being mean to the poor and treating them like crap
Treating their neighbors like crap
Treating strangers in their land like crap
Picking a non-Christian Presidential candidate
Picking a non-Christian to give rites for the convetion
Picking the devil's music as their music for the convetion

So... Christians.. how do you feel this matches your New Testament and Jesus?
