Speaker2Animals: Sick works for me. I think back to the Republicans of my youth (1950s and '60s) and while I didn't always agree with them, they sure as hell were a lot more intelligent than the wingnuts running the GOP these days.
MisterTweak: How the hell did we end up further off into crazyland than them??
cameroncrazy1984: I think The Newsroom might have shamed some people into doing some actual journalism!

Fluorescent Testicle: optikeye: [graphics8.nytimes.com image 533x326]It's not just Reagan - he certainly started it, but the true nosedive into the bowels of insanity didn't start until the Tea Party began.
Gyrfalcon: Ultranationalism is an ugly word, Fawkes. Just the little brother of fascism, and we're seeing how it gets going.
Fluorescent Testicle: y want to start a civil war?
o hai, im the numbers guy
Fluorescent Testicle: It's not just Reagan - he certainly started it, but the true nosedive into the bowels of insanity didn't start until the Tea Party began.
BMFPitt: Fluorescent Testicle: It's not just Reagan - he certainly started it, but the true nosedive into the bowels of insanity didn't start until the Tea Party began. So the major tipping point in craziness was when a bunch of people who believed this shiat their whole lives got together and wore hats?
Fluorescent Testicle: Gyrfalcon: Ultranationalism is an ugly word, Fawkes. Just the little brother of fascism, and we're seeing how it gets going.Agreed. They already remind of a miniature Nazi party./Apologies for the Godwin so early in the thread.//Is it really a Godwin when some of them are already on record as saying they want to start a civil war?
themindiswatching: cameroncrazy1984: I think The Newsroom might have shamed some people into doing some actual journalism!TFA's in the op-ed section. They'll do actual journalism when they stop considering both sides to be the same.
NutWrench: Let's not forget Bush's 150 appointments from Regent University. For those unfamiliar with Regent, here's Bill Maher's take on it. (youtube, language nsfw)
Shadowknight: I used to be a medic in Virginia Beach, and had to deal with Regent from time to time along with the Christian Broadcasting Network HQ. The people there, students and faculty alike, seemed so incredibly rude and haughty. I know, anecdotal evidence and all, but you have never seen a more rude and self righteous groups of people. I won't get into specifics, so take it this for what it's worth I guess. But I hated going to either of those places just because they made you feel more like you were an inconveniencing everyone else more than you were trying to help the patient you were called for.
Alphax: "In his party, Kingston is in the mainstream. A Gallup poll in June found that 58 percent of Republicans believe God created humans in the present form just within the last 10,000 years - a wealth of anthropological evidence to the contrary."I took an interest in dinosaurs when I was in the first grade, as many children do, and went looking for books on them. By the time I finished grade school, I think I'd read every book on prehistory my grade school had on the subject. What's their excuse?
Shadowknight: Sorry, I just woke up. My grammatical mistakes are pretty glaring on second read through. Preview is for pussies.
Cpl.D: It's a positive feedback loop.
BMFPitt: So the major tipping point in craziness was when a bunch of people who believed this shiat their whole lives got together and wore hats?
Cpl.D: Shadowknight: Sorry, I just woke up. My grammatical mistakes are pretty glaring on second read through. Preview is for pussies.*high five* Too much morning, not enough coffee. Amirite?
KrmtDfrog: It's a goddamn shame we're in idiocracy now
WizardofToast: So when are we finally going to treat the Bible as a historic book of our culture and faith INSTEAD OF TREATING IT LIKE A SCIENCE BOOK?!
Shadowknight: For THEM, maybe. For the rest of us, it's very, very negative.
Shadowknight: Especially right now. I just got back home to Spain after taking the kids back to the States for the summer to visit family in Michigan, and I'm still on day 1.5 of trying to switch my schedule back to the European timezone. It's not going well.
Bontesla: Remember those people who suggested all career politicians be replaced by every day people? This is what happens. "Every day people" includes fringe belief systems, poor educational foundations, a terrible understanding of important politicial relationshops (like debt ceiling limits), and the desire to place ideology above compromises.
Goodfella: o hai, im the numbers guy
Cpl.D: What these jack-holes don't realize, is the universe is definitive. Something either is, or is not.
Cpl.D: Something that is not is going to become an is if you wish for it hard enough. If it did, my home would have been awash in naked writhing female gymnasts the moment my first pube sprouted.
