Fark you, Apple. You are no better than the Republicans who try to win by restricting voting access. If you want to succeed, making a superior product, not simply by restricting the competition.

Seriously, let's here the excuses Samsung apologists!

Apple bought the Judge!
Apple bought the Jury!
Everyone on the jury owns iPhones!
Oswald was a patsy!

Etc.

What's so funny is that people keep using the argument "They don't look that much alike."

As if that was what the argument and ruling were about. It was violation of patents. Misappropriating technology. In other words....STEALING.

That is an affront to competition and innovation and why Samsung lost (geez. I just typed Samsunk. it's already sticking)

Won't matter, Apple has been switching over manufacturing to Sharp and LG over the last few months.

Moron.

I will biatch that a farked up patent system has just farked over competition and therefore customers.

It will effect you as well ... as Apple gains strength from this absurd ruling they will screw over their pawns loyal customers with higher prices.

But I'm sure your lack of critical thinking skills just leaves you happy that "your side" won.

Yes, keep pretending that's what Apple was suing over, and not specific designs and UI elements.

They did make a superior product. Samsung copied it.

Just like they copied Blackberrys when they were the big thing. Samsung lost that lawsuit, too.

You do realize there's hundreds of free non-Adobe Flash players on the Android market, not to mention it being bundled in the most popular mobile browsers. In fact, most mobile sites will automatically redirect you to a direct Adobe download, if you don't have it installed.

Doesn't change the fact that Flash has been a POS for a long time, and that HTML5 and WebGL are much better, open standards. I mean can anyone honestly say "I love Flash! It's so fast and well made!"

Does Apple make TVs yet? How about PC laptops? Samsung makes more than Androids.

2012-08-24 08:23:52 PM
I'll bet Samsung isn't losing as much sleep over the damages verdict as it is over the judge's upcoming decision on whether to grant Apple's requested injunctions prohibiting Samsung from selling its infringing products in the US. Talk about destroying a market. Samsung is probably already calling Apple hoping to buy its way out of those potential injunctions.

Hooray for the broken patent system!

"You stole our patent for a black flat thing with glass! We want... 500 billion dollars! Or you could let this panel of high school dropouts decide for us."

They make Apple TV, and Mac laptops are PCs. So, yes.

However, Apple does NOT make cars.

prjindigo: Apple has LOST this case in every other market on the planet.

I knew that Samsung was farked from the start when the judge forbid Samsung from showing evidence that Apple may have been influenced by Sony products when designing the iPhone.

I never thought the iPhone or iPad was revolutionary. Maybe the Newton was, especially given the work that Apple did in cooperation with ARM.

I'm also not surprised to hear the difference in development time for the look of the iPhone versus the Galaxy. Jobs was a perfectionist who never seemed happy with the design. He's always been like that, yelling at his underlings, pushing to go outside of the envelope. Samsung dudes were probably like, "meh, good enough" and released it much faster.

The weirdest thing to me was that for years people biatched about how awful Flash was, but suddenly when the iPhone didn't have Flash and Android did, it became the best thing since sliced bread on internet forums.

Erm, apple makes laptops yes (and in case you live under a rock, Apple's entire computing line is capable of having Windows intalled if you so desire).

Why are you complaining, then? If Apple doesn't make the products you use, why all the Apple hate?

I don't see how any reasonable person could look at Samsung's history and say they don't copy from others. What happens when they need to "innovate" on their own?

Unless something has changed, I don't think that Sharp or LG makes any of the chips that are used to make phones. And I also think that Samsung makes the screen for the Iphone.

I doubt Samsung will stop selling components to them, but it will be interesting.

Oh, my...

This is... this is definitely a game changer. O_O

2012-08-24 08:29:18 PM
This is terrible news.

Samsung supplies a good bit of parts to Apple, specifically, NAND flash and a few quirky things that the phone needs.

As long as Samsung doesn't have some contractual agreement that they just signed prior to this ruling that stands for sometime, Samsung loses big.

However, if Samsung can sell products to Apple at market value, then Samsung would be best to purchase more of the raw materials to make the things needed for the iPhone. This would be icing on the cake for Samsung then, since they'd have more of the products needed by Apple, and Apple would have to pay at whatever Samsung deems necessary for the purchase of those initial raw materials plus the cost of the paying for the legal fees.

Your future iPhone just went up in price today.

The complaint is that Apple prosecutes others for copying, when copying is all that Apple's been doing since the Lisa.
