they only care for children that are still in the womb

Good. The convention floor is not a suitable environment for young children.

Based on even this article, it sounds like they made reaonable accomodations.

The GOP relish the idea of having babies at the RNC- that's where a lot of their ideas come from.

A quick persual of the site's About page shows that this is an attempt by a GOP front group to manufacture a
Democratic war on women.

Why not? Kids go to political rallies all the time. We took my 2 year old and my 4 year old to an Obama rally. Lots of people had little kids there. Why not the convention?

FTC: "Makes it harder to honestly say that the baby is nothing more than a glob of tissue, especially when the child smiles and coos."

They make electron sonograms now?

I think you need to read the article again. Requiring them to be credentialed and then denying requests from moms for said credentials? How is that a reasonable accommodation?

I'm not going to argue. It's quitting time. Just based on past conventions when I see that floor I can't imagine taking a kid there. Long, crowded, noisy and inside. Probably moreso than a rally.

But cool for you that your kids are easy with that stuff. Seriously, no snark. But I don't think I'd do it. Not under 5.

2012-08-24 05:48:36 PM
So how is them having to find their own childcare and not being able to bring their children to work different from how most every other working mother in America lives? I might be willing to give half a shiat if there were any indication that this would turn toward defending their constituents as well, but I seriously doubt that this is what this is about.

I'm quite sure it is a GOP front group. That doesn't mean the story is false. The Charlotte Observer newspaper and The Daily Caller are also reporting this. If they are attributing false quotes to Ms. Steinem, that's a big deal--but I doubt they are doing that.

Why is this important? I could care less if children were at the RNC or DNC. It's a political ass grabbing, booze drinking event.

Because crying babies might not be good for a televised event?

Does the Republican Convention allow babies?

How long is a rally- 1 hour or so? Conventions last 4 hours minimum, assuming they start on time and all the speakers stick to their allotted time. Sorry, subjecting a kid to 4+ hours of boredom is simply cruel.

I must say, subs, well done for a great headline. Although it could use a little more polish

FTFDerp: "Feminists are denouncing a rule at the upcoming Democratic National Convention that will bar children, including breastfeeding babies, from entering the event without being credentialed."

Yes, because delegates could never get their children credentialed.

Can't find any tweets/facebook/website postings from these women to back this up. Doesn't seem like this is really chapping their hides, because they sure don't seem to be making an issue of it.

Getting a long-form birth certificate.

Gloria Steinem suggested that the Democratic Party could recognize that where there are women, there are often children.

Where there are people, there are often babysitters.

Only on the dais.

Well gee, people can't walk in their own neighborhoods during the RNC without showing their ID and stating their business. The interstate is closed and routes to even the local hospital are detoured. So if the DNC are being bigger douchebags than the RNC, I'm all ears.

Which of course is being reported here by LifeSiteNews: LifeSiteNews.com emphasizes the social worth of traditional Judeo-Christian principles... LifeSiteNews.com understands that abortion, euthanasia, cloning, homosexuality and all other moral, life and family issues are all interconnected in an international conflict affecting all nations, even at the most local levels. LifeSiteNews attempts to provide its readers with the big picture and the most useful and up-to-date information on this conflict.

They sound concerned.

And if you've done something that Gloria Steinem is complaining about, I think it's safe to say feminists are unhappy.

Strung out with very small partial quotes, with mostly supposition in between. If Steinem is so upset about this, why hasn't she tweeted anything? "It would be nice if they did this" is a far crime from "this is an outrage!!!"

Also, the Hollywood NOW president they claim to quote is actually the "president emeritus."
